New Here And 7 Days Post Op.....

Recommended Posts

My name is Teresa and I am 7 days post op.......I am 43 and the mother of 2kids and finally decided that I needed to take control of my life and my weight. I am so looking forward to talking with and learning from those of you who have had the sleeve for a long time. I don't know what else to say. I hope to get support and encouragement and knowledge from this group. T

You came to the right place if you need great advice and encouragement and booty kicking when you need it. I love it here. People are so nice, or tough love when you need it. Congratulations on being sleeved and welcome to the losers bench :-)

I have only lost 2 or 3 pounds in my first 7 days. I keep reading where people are dropping as much as 20 pounds in their first week......this makes me feel a little bit blue. I keep wondering if I am doing something wrong. Can anyone offer me some advice on this or had a similar slow weight loss when they first had the sleeve?

No honey. You're doing find. The first week is when you're losing Fluid weight from the hospital and not getting anything in. I gained 10 pounds in the hospital. I was down six... But everyone is different. If you go through and compare yourself to everyone on this site, your feelings will be hurt daily. Everyone's journey is different. Actually take time to recognise your victories instead of loathing that you've not lost x amount of pounds.

Yes, don't Compare yourself to others. You prob retained a lot of fluids from the iv's in the hospital. Consistancy is the key, make sure you keep hydrated, as hard as it may be also try to get your Protein in.

I am 6 days post op and I actually gained 3 lbs in the hospital. I've had a really hard time finding 'food' I can tolerate post op. Everyone I speak to keep asking me how much weight I've lost and I wonder if they ever took a health or biology class before?!? Right now my body thinks its starving. You will never lose weight when your body enters starvation mode. I haven't succeeded yet at consuming the 48-64 oz of Fluid I'm supposed to get daily much less the 40-60 gm of Protein or the 500 calories. I'm just biding my time until I get past this diet phase and then hopefully when I can start adding more variety to my diet and I go back to work and become more active then the weight will start sliding off.

In the meantime I relax knowing the hard part (surgery) is over and I just have to keep putting one foot in front of the other now.

Thank you. Today I added Protein to everything. I need to really keep track. I want to get in at least 70 grams per day. 80 would be ideal. I don't drink plain Water. I have to have zero calorie flavored water.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
