Hi everyone! I'm 5 days post op an I have a 10mnth old that wants his mommy!! I feel soo bad cause he crys at my feet. I know how very important it is not to lift. My boyfriend has been the best at helping with baby! I was jus wondering if anyone knows when I can lift him, he's like 25lbs.

I would suggest you wait until cleared by your doctor. My doctor cleared me for lifting that much weight at four weeks. What if you lie on the bed and have your boyfriend lift baby up to snuggle up with you? Or sit in a chair?

I'm absolutely feeling you! I have a 3 yr old whos 27lbs. I was told that I couldnt lift more than 10 lbs until I was 6 weeks out. That lasted about 2 weeks. My mom was a big help because my son and I went to stay with her and my dad for weeks 2-4 but I still lifted him sometimes. I went back home at 4 weeks and was home with him all day while my husband was at work and lifted him all the time. I know we have to be careful, but they're your baby. At least my son is old enough he could climb on the couch with me by himself. I think you should do your best, but its too hard when they want you

I feel ya! I've got a cuddler too! She was 2 when I had my band surgery. I'd put my little pillow on my tummy and she would climb up and snuggle. She is 6 now and really good about being careful w/me but we still snuggle!

Is your little guy much of a climber? Can you get down a little closer to his level. A kinda meet in the middle thing? Are there some large pillows/cushions that you can put on the ground and build up so he can climb up to you? Might have to steady him some while he does it until he gets the hang of it. What about building a ramp of some sort that he can use to crawl up to the couch? I'm just thinking of the ramp DH built for me so I could get in and out of our living room after my foot surgery.

I'm not sure I'm helping. Just throwing ideas out there. Maybe some one else can expand on them or gets a better idea. I know it's hard but you REALLY don't want to hurt yourself right now. That will just make the healing take longer.

Hope you can come up with something!

Hi, I'm 2 1/2 weeks out and have. 10 month old that weighs 23 lbs I only lasted two weeks w/out lifting her (couldn't take it she needed/wanted her mommy). That being said I only carried her wouldn't walk with her. Now at almost 3 weeks I'm slowly walking w/her but just like from crib to my bed and we are both happy :)

My daughter was 14 months and she was 27 pounds... My Doc said one week. But if I felt anything, then put her down and wait a day. One week was all I could take..

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
