I just got my passport out today ready to go on vacation. My passport is dated just a year ago. My picture doesn't look anything like me at all. I sure hope I don't have any trouble traveling.

If you read the regulations it says certain things you have to get a new passport if you lose a significant amount of weight is one of them.... I was dreading that, because our honeymoon will be in one year and Ill need a passport, but I figured it was worth the extra passport payment to lose the weight c: when are you going on vacation? keep me updated let me know how this works for you, and have fun!!!

I had a meeting in a federal building recently that required me to go through an identify verification process--the guard took my driver's license, checked it and me out, and said, "Ma'am, do you have any other identification?" I was surprised but said yes, I had my passport (I carry it all the time since we travel so much). He took that, looked at it and me, and said, completely straight-faced, "Ma'am, you're going to want to get a new picture; looks like you've had your hair cut since this picture was taken." Then he grinned and asked me how I had lost so much weight.

It's pretty fab, but yeah, you might think about a new pic at some point in the near future. :-)

Thanks everyone for your advice. We will be going on vacation in about two weeks. That is not near enough time to get a new passport. I guess I will just have to hope that I can get by with my current passport. I didn't read about needing a new passport if you lose a lot of weight but I did read that most countries don't even look at the actual picture. I hope that is my case. A funny thing is that every time my four year old granddaughter sees a picture of me before I lost weight she keeps asking "what happened to you in that picture?" She just can't remember that I ever looked like that. That is so nice.

I actually just applied for my passport Thursday. We will be going diving in Mexico the end of next month. It's possible that there will be a significant difference in my appearance, so I hope there's not going to be an issue.

If you get delayed and sent for additional screening, just consider it a form of flattery. :D

You should be fine. I had my passports made before surgery and currently live overseas and use them frequently. I have not yet encountered a problem despite the fact that I have three chins in the passport photo and could now pass for my younger sister! They're trained to look for identifiers in the face, not only your weight. If it comes up, simply explain and it should be no problem.

Once you reach goal and have time, get new documents made. The only thing I've updated so far is my drivers license because I had lost enough that I was having trouble when the supermarket clerk checked my ID so I could buy beer or wine. :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
