Made My Goal :) And Venting Frustration...

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone :)

Today I finally hit my weight loss goal of 140 lbs. I weighed in at 139.2 which means I am down 95 lbs. My bmi is just, and I mean just above a healthy weight, but I wanted a realistic goal. Anyways I am super excited, but I am still planning on losing more, til my body settles and likes where its at. So here comes my vent.

I told my mom and she said "I am scared, you are delusional about how you look, you are thin, I am terrified you are going to take it too far and lose too much" I am just frustrated, I feel like I seriously cannot win, I am either to big or too thin, I mean holy cow my bmi isn't even average yet, how on earth can she think I am going to far?

Anyways I am not letting that stop me, I stick by what I said earlier and I am ignoring everyone else's input on my weight loss, my body will determine when I have lost enough and when its happy.

Congratulations!!! That is such an accomplishment! Moms are moms- surely u understand. If she's anything like mine, she's all for you loosing weight and getting healthy, but loose too much she's like 'u wanna cookie?' but let your body do its thing. Eat healthy, exercise, live to the fullest. If you lose more- then u lose more. If you stay- then your body may be done. If you gain... Ok, well try not to gain. :)

You are so much thinner that you used to be and thinner than she's use to seeing you. I'm still obese and I get the same comments about taking it too far.

Counter with my surgeon who says my ideal weight in 110 which is a the extreme low end of the healthy weight range. It would make me a size 0.

I'm ignoring both. I like me at around 125-130.

My best friend does this to me. Last time I seen her she said, "I can't handle your skinniness!" It made me kinda sad but on the other hand, it puts a big smile on my face! Others are use to seeing us at our heaviest and it is a drastic change for them to see us shed our weight. I love my skinniness and have a personal goal of about 130 to 135 lbs. But, I will always be watching what I eat, lean Proteins, veggies, with a little starches. :)

I agree with alliegb3. Your mom has seen you a certain way for a period of time and now you are skinny..healthy skinny. I think it takes our loved ones as long to get used to our new bodies as it takes for us to lose the weight. Just give her time to get used to the new you. And remember she is mom,,she's going to be critical about your health and always, always give her opinion :) God love em..I miss mine.

I can so relate! I was talking to my mom last night and told her I'm almost at my 40 lb mark and so happy. I said I want to be a size 12 or 14 (I'm 5'11"). She said I remember that time you were drinking those Protein shakes and you looked emaciated. I was like whaaaa. I said I never got under 200 lbs or smaller than a 16. She said well you don't need to be smaller than a 16. *crickets*

Celebrate your success and ignore the nay-sayers!

Hello there GLI, well... as allieg put it... Moms will be Moms. LOL ;) My Mom does this all the time. I just smile and nod and say "Okay Mom, I promise I won't lose too much". Haha!

She's just commenting because she loves you. That's all. However since we have to live in our bodies we are always the ones with the final say. If you feel you can go for more then do that. It's always nice to have a little wiggle room, so if you run off course you can catch it before gaining too much.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
