My recomendation is to give it up while now. There is so many bad things about soda even if it's diet. I found this article that I found very interesting.

I am not a soda drinker but I had a rum and coke ( I know...bad me!) at 10 weeks and only had one and there wasnt really that much soda in it...it was strong!

I had a sip of my hubby's soda, it was just a small sip (I'm almost 3 months out) and while it didn't hurt or anything it certainly didn't taste right. I used to LOVE soda, but it just tasted too syrupy tasting. Entirely too sweet. I have been craving seltzer Water like crazy though, and am still coming to terms with probably never drinking it again.

Lucky for me my therapist scared me outta soda back in February. Don't even do diet.... Too many cancer risks involved with the acids and all. I crave it occasionally but the most I'll do is smell it! LOL

I was a huge diet coke addict. I tried at 4wks and couldn't do it. I am 5 months post op and still can't drink soda or anything with carbonation. Just depends on the person.

Did it hurt your stomach at all going down? Only reason I even posted this question was because I'll be celebrating my birthday this upcoming weekend, and I'd like to have a cocktail. My drink of choice is rum & coke also. I'm only 3 weeks post op, and don't ever get the urge to drink soda straight. Never really did before either. I just don't want to get all dolled up, go out, just to feel terrible after my first few sips of a cocktail. Just curious.

I am allowed to drink flat diet soda, goes down fine. Never tried carbonated. I'm only two weeks post op, I think I would be too scared to try carbonated soda and alcohol so early. The stomach takes so long to heal. I would be afraid Of getting ill. I would be careful and not push it.

I have been drinking multiple carbonated beverages a day since 2.5 months out. (1 diet pop and 2 sparkling waters) I made goal, didn't stretch my stomach contrary to some people's beliefs on this forum!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
