Well its been 18 days since I had the surgery and I have lost 15pounds but I havent lost anything in the last 5 days. I have been eating some soft foods- like eggs, noodles, tuna, etc. Since I started eating real food I havent lost anything. is this normal? Also my port still is bothering me a lot. it is still sore. Is this normal. Let me know what you think and thanks for the insight!

Its only been 18 days...you are prob still somewhat swollen from surgery. Port site...they stitch it, so yes, you would be sore...it was major surgery. Everyone heals differently. And, hey---15 lbs in 18 days is good....really good!!! Best Wishes to you!!!:)

Remember that the 1st 6 weeks is really for healing, and that should be your focus. The weight loss is a pleasant side-effect.

Please don't worry about this at this early point. Start practicing taking the long-term point of view, don't rush things, and stay focused on health. I promise you will be happier and healthier, and you will lose weight. This is not a race.

You are doing great, don't jeopardize it by getting in a big hurry.

Good luck!

Cindy

You sound like you're on track to me. Your body is still adjusting and once it gets used to being on regular food again you should see a difference. Good luck and congrats!

I lost pretty quickly right after surgery because of swelling and only eating liquids. When I started eating more solid-type foods, the loss slowed way down. Even more when I started *real* food. When I went three weeks without any loss, I got my first fill at 9 weeks. Then the loss started at an average of 2 lbs/week.

My port stayed sore for a long time. Even now, at 3 months out, it's tender if I push on it. This whole thing was major surgery, even though it doesn't look like it with only 5 little scars.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
