Mothers With Young Children!

Recommended Posts

I have a 2 year old and today I put her in the car to get a sno cone. I'm not sure what I did but I have hurt my right lower abdomen so I was just warning mothers to be careful if you have just been sleeved!!!!

Yup! I can't lift for 6 weeks or more...the doc says anything over 10 lbs can cause hernia at the surgery incision sites...be careful!!

When were you sleeved? I am preop and have a one and two year old. Nervous about the no lifting... I had two csections and after two weeks I did pick up my daughter. Its almost impossible not to (carseats, etc...). I am gonna have to think about this issue and how to get them in and out of the car when I am by myself...

Since they are probably walking, can they crawl in themselves then you lean in a and buckle them?

Ideally yes that would work but not with my lil firecracker lol! I have a 2 door honda and I have to lift my right knee up to lean in the car to snap her in. That puts a lot of discomfort on my healing stomach. I will probably have my mother in law continue taker my daughter to day care this next week.

It is hard! My kids 2 and 4 yo likes to watch TV e me at night but they always fall asleep it takes me like half an hour trying to wake them up so they can walk to their beds i feel so sorry for them but i talked to them about it and they seems to understand and also showed them my cuts so they know it is something going on w mommy so they are "concious" about it

It was hard not being able to pick up my 2.5yo for 6 weeks. Luckily, she was able to climb in and out of her carseat by herself and I would just strap her in. I put her highchair on the lowest setting, so she was able to climb in and out of that as well. Plus we are living with my parents right now, so they were able to help a lot with day to day stuff. Lol actually we had an earthquake that was centered right next to my city a few weeks ago....I picked her up and carried her down the stairs and out the door but it didn't hurt and i don't think I messed anything up.

I remember laughing at her crazy behavior (such a fun age) shortly after I got home from the hospital and the laughing made my incisions hurt!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
