Surgery June 4Th Leaving For Vacation On June 16Th?

Recommended Posts

My surgery is scheduled for June 4th I am leaving for vacation to the outer banks on June 16th. I will be driving since it will just be my 2 sons ages 8 & 10 with me but I am meeting my parents and my sister and her family there. What do you guys think ? Will my energy level be up enough? According to my NUT's diet I will be starting mushies on week 3. Just wanted some experienced sleevers opinion on this. Thanks in advance!

I would say take your time driving, stop often, eat as needed, stay hydrated. What will you be doing once there? Lots of relaxing or sightseeing? Main thing, take the time to drink and eat.

Keep your plans restful ones. You are not going to be 100% 2 weeks out. Make SURE you drink plenty of fluids if you don't do anything else because dehydration will drop you in your tracks. Now, the good news... you should be okay going, but. like I said, don't try to climb the Swiss Alps or anything...rest.

We will mainly be going to the beach and laying by the pool. We only eat one dinner out the whole week so I'm not too concerned about the restaurant aspect and I've already told my sis no heavy lifting so somebody better be getting my bags! Lol I plan to lay around and sip all day the most strenuous activity will probably be beach combing but I love the Water any idea about swimming? Pool or ocean? Thanks for your replies!

I don't believe you will be able to swim - ask your Dr. If you can, I would think only pool. The incisions need to be completely healed. And I wouldn't take a chance on ocean Water and germs at that point. Not that pool is much cleaner.

I would definitely stay out of a public pool or ocean until all your incisions are completely healed, and I doubt that would be the case at 2 weeks out.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
