Recommended Posts

Thanks everyone who posted, but I need everyone who agreed to be in the challenge to post! I'm leaving for Vegas in the morning. I'll try and get the totals while I'm there, if not it will be on Friday. Keep up the good work everyone. LIndaN, 10K? I'm impressed!

Thanks Kareyquilts! Yes, the 10K. I've got so much energy now. Thought I would do something to really show it.

Just saw the doc and don't have to go back for 2 months now. He is very pleased. :whoo:

Karey - OK I'm not new to Lapbandtalk but have never done a challenge before. I posted my starting weights on Friday, but wondered if you would rather I/we post updated weights on a specific day of the week, like Mondays. If so there is still no change from my Friday Weight.

7-23-07 - 169.8 (-3.8 or +2 depending on your outlook)

7-9-07 - 173.6

approx 2 Months ago - 167.8

Goal for bandversary - 159 or 1-1/4 pounds per week

Surgery date: 9-13-05

Height: 5'2"

Age: 37

No weight loss for me this week. Sometimes that happens but I really need to refocus what I'm putting in my body. Mostly crap I'm afraid. Of course that doesn't leave room for the healthy stuff :) I don't want to lose this momentum!

Um...challenge? Please fill me in...I thought I was joining the September banders but sounds interesting. As for stats, I will get all the details to you soon, but my highest pre-op weight was 374 and I'm at 318 now! That is 56 pounds! WOO-HOO! Please don't get me wrong, I am THRILLED to have lost 56 pounds, but I truly was hoping the weight would come off faster than that. I know, I know...it didn't come on overnight and slow, steady loss is best, but you read about folks who have lost more than 56 pounds in less time and I just wonder "why can't I?" ya know?? I hit a "bump" in the road - I went for 12 weeks without losing but not gaining and got so very discouraged. When I went for a checkup I spent most of the office visit in tears. I got a fill, and when I had my last visit on July 16, 2007, I had lost 4 pounds! I didn't get a fill then because I'd been having on and off problems keeping food down but that seems to be better. My next appt. is on August 27 - we will see...

Good luck all!

Susan

I just got off the phone with the plastic surgeon's office and I'm going in for my Extended Tummy Tuck with addition liposuction on my upper abdomen, October 9th!

Now let's just hope I find the funds by then.

Since we are at almost a year out, let's start looking at some stats for our team. What percentage of their total weight loss goal has everyone lost so far? Is the band what you expected? Is it working well or not? Are you having any troubles with things?

Let's get talking about our current 1 year post-op bodies and see if we can't pick it up for year 2 of Band-Dom!!!

I've lost 45% of my goal weight loss. The band is more difficult than I thought it would be, and I thought I would be close to goal by now. I think it is working and I'm finally at my sweet spot, which I enjoy. My next goal is to be at my final goal by this time next year

I have lost 25% of my goal. I started fast, tapered off, then quit and headed the other direction for a while. It is not the fault of the band. It's all mine. I discovered all the things that would go down easy and ate them...for a while. I'm back with an attitude adjustment. I have never felt so strong. I can do this. Katt

Cassandra...I am so glad to have my band!

It has been an interesting learning experience. What I thought for so long was inadequate restriction is really not. Like I have said in previous postings, I could have lost more w/better discipline. It turns out that Cookies, chocolate and cake just slide down easier. When I eat what I am supposed to I fill up much more quickly.

Does anyone ever get "stage fright" when eating in company? Or out in a restaurant? It seems when I am around people and try to eat that it is much more difficult and I get full after about 2-3 bites. Later, if I come back to try to finish my barbie doll portions, I am able to complete it. Sometimes it seems like I need to warm up my band before I can eat a proper amount which keeps me from starving later.

This weekend I spent time with friends of the family. I felt weak and shaky because each time I sat down to eat with them it just wouldn't go down. Now back at home I can eat without difficulty. They know about my surgery and asked, "Are you OK?" Weird huh?"

I am at 65% of my initial goal of 100 pounds to lose. I fully intend to drop the next 35% over the next year. Then plastic surgery here I come!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
