MinIn: Thanks for doing the challenge again. If it gets to be too much for you, especially after your surgery let me know and I'll give it a go. I'm not real great at the computer, but I could try if you need to be spelled off. I hope more are going to answer the challenge!

Karey: I would have volunteered for keeping track of the July 4th challenge but I'm only one step away from not even knowing how to open email. :embarassed:

So far, how's that new fill working for you? Any additional restriction yet? Does your doc suggest that you do liquids or soft foods for a couple of days after a fill? Mine doesn't, but after the one this Thursday, I think I will only do Protein Shakes for a day or so to see if it makes any difference.

Thanks Karey! Really it's no big deal to keep track of this challenge, I spend way to much time on the computer (personal and professional) that it only takes a minute. If I'm under the weather next week I will let you know! Hopefully they give me good pain meds and I'll feel better than new:)

MinIN: If you are getting a full TT next week, don't expect to be comfortably sitting at the computer anytime soon. Oh but wait a minute, you're not getting a TT, are you? Rather breast enhancement surgery? If that's the case, I can't comment on how you're going to feel next week.

I wish you the very best results!!! We will be thinking of you, getting even all the more fabulously gorgeous. You've worked hard and done so well at this weight loss thing - you definitely deserve to keep doing what you can to be fit and beautiful. I wish I had gotten the band when I was your age!! We'll look forward to hearing from you as soon as you're up to it.

Btw, thanks so much for taking care of the stats again. We illiterate computer non-geeks are sorta at the mercy of you brainiacs.

MimIn, good luck with your surgery! You're gonna be one hot gale! How exciting!

I would say I am jealous but I have more up there than is comfortable. I hope to get a lift someday tho...

Is anyone out there discouraged about the way their slimming bodies are now sagging? I wouldn't say I am depressed because I look so much better now than I did but even so, it is discouraging to see how badly I abused my body. Thank goodness for PS!!!

I am ending the Patty's Challenge and starting the 4th at 189. My goal weight is 138 so I am 49% of the way there. I never would have believed it if someone had told me this back in September! I can now run 4 miles without stopping....3 on a regular day. I have NEVER been able to do this, even as a teenager. It is very gratifying. Running a 10K is now a very real possibility.

Congrats to all!!! You are my inspiration and motivation!!!

Bjean: I wish I was getting a TT aswell but alas I promised my BF that I would wait until all the weight was off and then 6 mo to see what I can do on my own. Although I am secretly planning a lower body lift and arm lift so at that 6 mo mark I'm ready

Lisalee: I am disgusted with the sagging skin, I work out hard and it still sags all over the place. It grosses me out!!

Bjean: Thanks for asking about the fill. I did get a fill. The doc put in a whole .2 cc. This is the third day and I can't tell yet. My doc has you do liquid the first day, soft food the second, mushie food the third and then slowing experiment with regular food. Tommorrow I'll be back on regular food. I know in the past that a fill kind of snicks up on you. I don't feel tighter and than I hurry and bam, I PB. I am going to be very careful this time around because I hate to PB! I should have a total of 1.9 cc in my band. However, everytime they take out the old and I have lost at .5 cc. I wish you could just get to that sweet spot and stay there! I have been on a terrible plateau, almost a month of no weight loss. The nutrionist and doc said not to worry that I'm doing everything right and that it will come off. The body just needs to adjust. But really, how can you not worry? I have noticed that even though the scale hasn't moved much, my clothes are getting loser. I even fit into a few size 12's, so I guess something is working...

karey: I've been having the same trouble with fills. I can't understand it. I'll be fine at first and then it gets increasingly tighter, then almost nothing. When I go back there's always a little bit less than when I got the fill. Where does it go???

I haven't lost weight at all in the past couple of weeks and only a very small amount over the past 2 months. I don't know what's going on. I do know I haven't had the same amount of resolve to lose as I did in the beginning. I want that back. I've lost close to 40 lbs. and bam, I'm stuck (and I don't mean PB stuck) - I guess I mean at a plateau. I am so wanting to get to below 170 because the last time I was below 170 was about 8 or 9 years ago. Right now I'm bouncing back and forth from between a high of 182 to a low of about 176. Sooo frustrating. I would be excited if I fit into a size 12 at all. You're doing very well!

I don't know why my doc doesn't suggest a soft diet after a fill. I'm going to ask about that tomorrow. It makes sense to me to take it easy because you might be a little swollen just from the new fill, right?

Keep up the good work, Karey! You are going to keep me hanging on and not getting depressed. Thanks.

BJean, my second fill all but disappeared in one week. I went in to see the doctor and they said the saline sometimes reabsorbs into the body. It seems like our little band has some porousity and it leaks through.

They put a thicker fill liquid in, called something like "Omnipaque." That did the trick for me.

For quite a while after that I knew it was there. I wouldn't say I was at optimum fill or the "sweet spot" but it definitely hung around. Why don't you ask about that?

Karey...a size 12? I can't even imagine! That seems so "normal." :)

I am in for the 4th of July. How far away is that? It seems so far away. I mean school will be over. half my summer will be over. anyway I am starting this challenge at 260 pounds. (only lost 16 in the last challenge) but that was better than gaining or only a teeny tiny loss. I am happy with how I am doing. I have lost 60 pounds in 6 months. Things have slowed down though my last ten took me 7-8 weeks. I can feel the restriction but more so the clogging up because I eat too fast or not chew enough. at every meal it seems. The one thing I am having trouble with is the head hunger. there are days I can't seem to control myself. I guess that will go on for the rest of my life. I should be thankful for the days I can control it. Well, time for bed so I can get up, go to school and then get a bone graph in my mouth... yuk..

Hey Sandranoelle! I have added you to the list. July 4th is 15 weeks, it is a little ways away but it gives us more time as weight loss has slowed down for a lot of us.

Sandranoelle: I only lost 16 pounds the last go around too. It seems we live parallel lives right here in Salt Lake City, UT. I just had a bone graft in mouth last week. Life is fun isn't it? Whose your oral surgeon? Mine was Summerhayes?

Hi all!

I had my surgery today and although I am quite sore and tired everything went great! Downside from this, the implants weigh about 2lbs each so I'm looking at a 4lb gain:( I am hoping that with a liquid diet (I'm so swollen that my band is even tight) I will be able to lose the 4lbs and not freak out on the scale, haha.

Mim

karey, mine is Francis in Alpine. He is new. but it was put off until next Friday. I am glad you said something because I haven't talked to anyone who has had a bone graft.. Does it hurt worse than (what?) humm worse than a cavity?

anyway I am concerned.

good news. I went to the doctor today and weighed my self. Since last july 31 I have lost 70 pounds.. sounds better than my 60 since my surgery on September 25.. 70 70 70 yeah

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
