I started my 3 week preop diet at 373 on August 7. I had surgery on 8/28 at 342 and this morning weighed in at 312. So 61lbs! The only problem I'm having is that I ALWAYS feel hungry. I hope that will go away soon....but I'm firing on all cylinders right now. Just waiting for my first plateau to test my mental strength.

I'm the same way .. I'm always hungry every hour.. I try yo drink Water but it doesnt do it.. so i eat a cracker or Jello and it stops..

I was sleeved on 8/25

Hey guys!

I am close to 4 weeks post op and am doing fairly well. I have a really hard time getting enough Protein, all the liquid Proteins make me sick so I've started having Greek yogurt (bad for sugar content, but does have 14-19g protein depending n the brand) and for meals I try to eat Soups that have chicken and or Beans, etc.

My current problems with my sleeve are that my throat is almost constantly "gurgling" it is so annoying and at times painful. When I take pills (I do cut them) my throat feels like its "contracting" where it hurts and stops and hurts and stops. It is frustrating. I do sometimes get a case of the slimes too from taking pills.

Does anyone else experience this? I do take Prevacid (prevents acid reflux) and levsin (suppose to keep asophagus from swelling) and it is much worse when I don't take them, but I sure hope it goes away eventually!

Yup.. I get the gurgling when I drink plain Water. I can not tolerate my Vitamins I end up throwing up.

So I can meet protein goal I drink diluted Isopure. I add Unjury and PB2 to cream of wheat . I am 3.4 wks post op.

I just have to say to myself this to shall pass.

I'm only able to keep puréed foods thinned with Skim milk down. Everything comes back up. I went to work last night, had refried Beans and puréed turkey. It all came back up, and I was hungry later because it was a 16 hour shift. I'll be 4 weeks post-op on Tuesday, and I keep waiting for things to loosen up. My NUT said one day, it'll just magically stay down.

I'm 4 weeks post op now and my main incision still is puffy and pink (like a circle around it) did anyone else have this? It doesn't hurt, I only get sore when I'm in that side or if I wear pants that rub on it.

Thanks for any replies!

Hi Bethany, yes, I have the same & am at 4 weeks yesterday. I get sharp pains in my incision sites when I turn or get out of the car.

Rubbing the incision site twice a day with Mederma, cocoa butter & / or Vitamin E oil will help the scar line. I have had 4 laparoscopic surgeries & you can't see some of the incisions anymore. Hope this helps. Jana

Bethany, it's very common. I'm just over five weeks and I was feeling discomfort up until this weekend. So hopefully, you're on the tail end of it! The stitches in the abdominal muscles take 4-6 weeks to dissolve. Once that happens, you should have smooth sailing. Good luck! I hope everything is going well in your post-op journey.

My friend who is almost nine months out said we will all lose the most in the first month. So we all have to learn to be patient I guess! :-)

Ummm....i'm not sure that's true. Many of us, me included, stalled right after surgery. I've lost about 5 pounds post-surgery and its been 5 weeks. I'm pretty sure when my body stops freaking out it will lose weight and then stall again. Which would not mean that I'll have lost the most weight the first month. At least I HOPE not!! :-) And I've read many stories about others like me.

We are all react so differently that I think the only thing for sure is that most peoples path are unique. I guess the other similarity is we all have stalls. Some sooner, some later. :-)

Again, i'm not a pro, this is just IMHO.

I've only lost 14 lbs since day of surgery and has been in a stall for two weeks. Oh I did lose 10lbs on my 1week liquid pre-op diet. So I've only lost 24lbs total and really frustrated. Thought I would lose more in the first month.

I read an article that was posted here on the site that said the first 6-12 months is when we lose the most, with a lot of emphasis on the first 6. I stalled for the first time on week 4, so I lasted a little longer than some. It's time to work out and lose inches while I wait for the scale to catch up. Good Luck, everybody!

I am doing relatively well. Was sleeved on 8/28, and have lost 23 lb since then. 29 including my pre-op diet. I am, however, strill struggling to get in all of Water and Protein. I am drinking 4 oz every 1/2 hour. It's finny - I was exactly 4 weeks post-op yesterday, and it was like a swtich was fliiped and my sleeve said "you may now eat 1/4 cup of food comfortably". So hopefully, this will help getting in my protein.

I am walking 30-45 mins 5 days a week. I had a small hernia repair, so that's all my surgeon has allowed thus far. But I go to see him tomorrow and I'm hoping that he lifts that because I really want to start lifting weights so I can tone up and gain a little muscle back.

I also have a little dark discoloration around my incisions, but have started using Vitamin E oil twice a day. Gonna get soem Mederma tomorrow (payday lol!) and see if it helps.

I'm having a hard time getting the fluids in, I'm doing fine with protein because I still have a shake every morning (30grams). I'm actually not cleared to do anything more than walking, but I went to the gym yesterday and did the elliptical for 30min, then the treadmill for 30min, and I felt great. Losing 30 pounds took a big load off. Keep up the good work and we'll be at goal in no time.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
