Ok help me out. What's a good multi to get and has anyone heard of spariluan Protein?

Still in my liquid stage post op but I CAN NOT swallow one more bloody chocolate shake. I am having Soups and runny tuna mornay. I think I had my sweet teeth removed as well as 2/3 of my tummy.

Sorry, I haven't heard of this Vitamin.

Glad to hear you are all going so well.

Kelloff, I had fatigue up until about the 3rd week, it does get better as you eat better/more consistant food.

Sorry I havent heard of spariluan Protein...

My sweet tooth also went for a while, up until really a couple of weeks ago. Now I have a bit of a sweet tooth recurrence, but endulging it too much makes me ill...hopefully my body will learn soon enough.

Hi guy's.

I have just spoken to my clinic and they've said that the quote they gave me didn't include the anaestheologist (sorry can't spell) fee. For those who had to pay this, can you give me an indication of how much this costs? I hadn't anticipated this as an expense and am worried it will run into the thousands :(

Cheers,

Lila

Hi Lila. My out of pocket for anaesthetist was 285 (total cost just over 400), however, that was considerably cheap. I reckon on average you would be looking at between 450 - 1500. These type of accounts vary quite considerably. Refund from Medicare would usually be between 150-400. Ask the hospital or surgeon for the name of the attending anaethetist then give them a call for a quote. That's what I did :) Hope it all works out for you. There is usually an assistant surgeon too. Did they include them in the quote?

Hey Lila,

My bill was $1300 for about 90 minutes. Still haven't claimed my Medicare back. But was told its around $200.

Usually your surgeon goes through the same anaethetist. I rang him and they sent me a quote.

Hope it's not too much for you.

Thanks - I am a bit annoyed as the letter from the clinic says that amount included assistant surgeon and the anaesethiologist fee's but when I called today she said it didn't. So confusing! But thanks for letting me know and I will follow this up tomorrow and let you guy's know the outcome!

I got a call from DHS today and they said to call back in the morning for the outcome. I am so excited and anxious :) Can't wait to hear the outcome - the way he was talking was very positive though so fingers crossed for a good outcome!! Will let you all know how I go in the end :)

Hi Lila

I got a shock with my anaesthetist bill which I received 3 days prior to op for $2000. I was really annoyed as also thought for some reason it was included. Anyway cut a long story short, paid the account but got back $400 from Medicare and $150 from medibank private.

Good luck with your super

Hi guys

Well returned back to work today 17 days post op. felt great and got through the day fine just getting used to the comments all day about how great I look already.

Shepherds pie sounds delish. I think that will be dinner tomorrow night.

Count down Kelliv - glad you are getting through the pre op diet. I agree that is the most difficult time of the whole experience.

Hi everyone. I too returned back to work today. 12 days post op. I'm a bit tired now, so it will be an early night for me. I still have not lost any weight since day 4 post op :( Dietician said this is a normal plateau that can occur straight after surgery as body in shock. Still disappointed though...I've also changed my Protein Shake to ProteinFX which is 20g Protein, 5g carbs and 3g fat per 250ml pre made shake.< /p>

What is the Protein Shake like and where did you buy from? I love the Musashi but quite a bit of sugar. I have not lost anything for about 5 days either but feel so much better already and can see a difference in my face. My doc also said the same as your dietician.

Has anyone got an idea of our calorie intake that we should be on daily. I have done 570 without dinner yet but burned 255 in walking

I paid about $2000 for the analysiologist (so can't spell).

Looks like I am headed back to hospital on Thursday for a bit of exploratory gastrectomy to look if there is any reason for my ongoing reflux, not normal this far out.

Yeah thats why I changed. The musashi is high carbs and high sugar and I thought it might be impeding my weightloss. I like the new one. Have only found chocolate and vanilla. There website is www.aussiebodies.com.au

I've been purchasing it from a 7/11 convenience store in Adelaide but I think I saw the same drinks at Coles.

My 'allowed' calorie intake is between 600-700. However I'm doing less than 600 at the moment.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
