Tell u what drinking bloody hurts. Apparently it is sitting above my sleeve for a while before it goes through. Hope that pain get better! Ah and that Barium swallow that was horrible. I'm moving really well though so that's a good sign I think. How's everyone else doing ?

Just take it slowly Ditdee. It will take 6 weeks for your stomach to heal so every stage will be a challenge going forward but every day will get better. I know what you mean about the swallow test - I have described it as like being forced to down a shot of peppermint schnapps when you have the worst hangover on record!

The barium is awful but when it's done it's done. I had to do it twice because they didn't get a clear image at first.

Drink really small sips. Let it just run down your throat at first. Drinking will feel like a full time job at first. Soon enough you will be able to gulp down half a cup at once. Don't worry. Also try watered down juice at first. It will go down softer than Water. It took me 5 months to tolerate plain Water. I used the Powerade powder at half strength before then. Yes it was calories but it didn't hurt me.

So I have only posted on here once to introduce myself. My surgery is tomorrow and whilst I'm not having second thought or doubts at all it is a bit scary! I did my 2 week pre op diet, couldn't use the opti slim, I found it too salty, so kept using the biggest loser shakes. After a few 'last suppers' my weight at the start of shakes was 146.6kg, today it's 140.3..I'm really hoping tomorrow is 139.something!! I did break a couple of times and am a little worried that this will impact on tomorrow, but can't do anything about it now...I can't wait until I'm over the other side with everyone else and after seeing how well everyone has done I'm hoping for the same positive results!!

Hi Ditdee! I still find that drinking can be an issue. I have to remember to just keep sipping a lot during the day and *not* half hour before or after meals. Icy cold Water and cordial does go down better after the surgery. I got a little dehydrated post op - not fun. You will be able to fit more in as your little tummy gets less swollen :)

It is so quiet on here - everyone must be doing their Christmas shopping!

Hi Sue. I was so frustrated with the new app that I uninstalled it from my android phone :( I am not in front of a computer at work so I log on when I can to catch up with the news and have a quick chat. So inconvenient but I am sure I am not alone....

You have done well spudsy. It seems to depend on the surgeon as to how much you need to lose before surgery. Some don't even ask their patients to do a preop diet. I was 125kg on the day of starting Optifast and 118kg on day of surgery. I am now 99kg and dropping 5 months later. Looking forward to hearing how you go. Don't forget to get up and walk when you are allowed.

Hey Spudsy, all the best for tomorrow. My starting weight when I started pre op was 142.5kgs. I'm now 6months out and have lost 39.7kgs!!! I had 2 stuff ups so to speak on my pre op but my surgeon said it won't hurt. It's been and don so just think about the other side of tomorrow. We're all here to give advise if needed.

We'll see u on the losers bench soon

Cheers Bec

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
