I have just realized that the chewable vitamins I have been taking post-op have about the same nutritional value as a lolly. Can anyone tell me what combination of vitamins/calcium etc you are currently taking as I am SO confused. thanks!

Camellia, is that the Vita gummies? I bought some for the kids and have been into the jar myself... very sweet. I'd been wondering myself if it was all too good to be true.

Hi Susan, It was something like that. I have since thrown them away but they were really yummy and yes, very sweet.

My dietician said not to worry about chewable and to take any good quality multi Vitamin with Water as you would any other medication you are on, even in the first week post off and when on puree.

I take 2x Citracal with D (morning and lunch) and 1x Elevit with iodine (before bed). I use a B12 sublingual spray when I remember, after brushing my teeth at night (it has a mint taste).

Hi Camella! I stopped taking vitagummies when I realised the adult dose of 3 pastilles gave me an extra 60 calories on mfp! I thought they tasted sweet as well-they have glucose Syrup in them :( My dietician said a soluble Supradyn extra was good if I couldn't handle a pill otherwise Centrum was fine.I have been taking one Centrum for Women tablet per day since the first week of fluids (zero calories). Also one Caltrate plus, silica (to stop hair loss)and Vitamin D.I also take other stuff but that is for my arthritis.

BTW: the vitagummy fibre pastilles are 5 cals for an adult dose of two gummies.A good alternative to jubes (joke!) and it claims to give 3 grams of dietry fibre but also very sweet.

Hey all- how is the 10 week challenge going for those of us who signed on? I had hoped to say it was going well but not so much :( in fact I have exercised only four days this week so am feeling a bit off... Planning to go for a run tomorrow though - start a new week off right!!

Will weigh in on Monday so won't know if it's affected my weight loss or not... Hope you're doing better than I am!!

Cheers Liss

Hey Liss-four days of exercise is better than none! I haven't stretched as much as I should :( So I bought a fold up exercise bike on ebay.It is compact but surprisingly sturdy and I managed 10 mins this arvo.

I have followed the "rules" on puree except for one ghastly night when I ate dinner too fast (yes I gulped) cos the kids were acting up.I didn't vomit but I couldn't stand up or lie down cos of the painful brick feeling in my tummy.I had to lay half propped up on the couch moaning feebly for an hour.Never want to feel like that again!! Awful!!Lesson learned.

I am glad you posted.I was about to weaken and have my first glass of wine but I won't now-lol-thank you :)

I have done week 1 of couch to 5k. Eating-wise I have felt pretty casual. Need to rein it in. I feel more hungry after a carb snack than before I eat it!

Hi Lissa, I did OK with goals this week except I only did 2 gym sessions instead of 3, but I did a good long walk last Sunday too, when something 'popped' in my knee, so it's back to my orthopaedic surgeon in a couple of weeks.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
