He operates out of the mater, where I went, which is more like a hotel, the sann and concord hospitals. Concord emergency is where I have to go if I have an emergency, which is a fair way from baulkham hills where I live, but I felt comfortable with them. I had my surgery 6 weeks ago and am 2 weeks into soft foods, 2 weeks to go until I'm on full solids. No complications or dramas of any kind. 5 days in hospital, no pain meds at all after I left. I take a nexium each day as the pathologist said my stomach was quite inflamed.

I went through Circle of Care at Baulkham Hills. I have found everyone very approachable there. I didn't have any complications and I was in Norwest Private which is a very nice hospital too. I like my surgeon (Dr Roy Brancastisano) a lot as he is very easy to talk to and explained everything really clearly to me. He is very passionate about this work and very positive too which made me feel reassured that everything would be fine - and it was. All the post surgery dietician, psychologist and physiotherapist care is included as part of the package.

I have the same surgeon as you. He was great when he was explaining everything, he drew diagrams, wrote down important points and was very helpful.

I live in baulkham hills too. Concord wouldn't be that bad, at least it's not hours away.

Glad you are going well, I can't wait to be post op!!

Just to chime in, I was going to go through the oclinic but found a surgeon closer to bankstown assoc/prof Peter Cosman. Glittering resume and operates at St George Private in Kogarah, I've stayed there before and it was pretty swish! Dr Cosman has had the sleeve himself and that pretty much made up my mind about who I wanted to do the surgery!

Some people may not see this as a good thing, but I was on time for my appt, but had to wait 20mins while the surgeon saw all the follow up patients that came after me so that he could give me all the time I needed to ask any questions and feel like I got answers in detail. He didn't like to keep the others waiting. I was in with him for well over an hour and never felt rushed or pressured or felt like any of my questions were silly. Now, as a post op, I appreciate not being made to wait more than an hour as he gives the same courtesy to other pre-ops. Does that make sense?

Has anyone heard from Lila at Tweed Heads Hospital. Starting to really worry about her. Should I phone the hospital tomorrow and ask after her??

I've been worried too it's been a while since she's posted anything. I think a phone call is a good idea!

I phoned Tweed Hospital tonight, but without a surname they couldn't help. Then phoned Gunnedah Hospital where Lila works, but woman on ward I spoke to doesn't know her. I will try again tomorrow and if no luck, will call Dr Silverman's office and see if they will give me an update on Lila. Will let you know how I get on.

Fingers crossed she's on the mend. It's do not fair; does something to improve her health and life and it backfires on her in the worst way.

Thinking of you Lila!

No luck trying to find out about Lila from her surgeon's office, Gunnadah Hospital where we think she works or Tweed Heads Hospital. No-one knows a Lila so not even sure if that is her real name. We will just ave to wait to hear from her.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
