Hi Michelle

I had my op on 20/7 and have lost only 7kgs. There was a few days of nothing but my surgeon said it could take up to a month before I lose anything as your body is in shock so im not too concerned. I am just happy that the scale is slowly going down

Hi guys,

Well just a bit of an update 14 days post op.

Started on soft/mushy food today and hubby took me for lunch as I start back at work on Monday. lunch I had half a small salmon which I ate over about an hour. So nice as was just over the Fluid stage.

Went to surgeon for post op check up and he's very happy with my progress. He did say that it could take up too a month before any weight loss due to the shock to your body. When I showed him the 7kgs I have lost since surgery he was really happy. I am going to try and weight self fort***htly, I am so tempted to get on it all the time so am going to get my husband to hide them and bring them out.

I am feeling really good, struggling to get through all my Water though as only getting down about 1litre. I have to work on this. I drink Musashi P30 each day and really like this and it gives me 30gms of Protein.

All my incisions are healing and just itchy but otherwise am really happy with my decision, I have not once experienced buyers remorse nor any complications, pain etc. just really excited for this next stage of my life.

My family are travelling to my husbands home in Samoa at Xmas so today planned everything and my husband is really excited to take me home and us explore, swim and just have a great time which I would never have had before doing this op. I was the one always hiding from the camera and making excuses to not join in the activities and covered up in jeans in soaring humidity. I hope i am down by 20kgs by xmas which will be fantastic and allow me to at least wear shorts, sarongs etc.

Anyway Aussie Sleevers, hope you are all good and have a great weekend;)

Good job Shelley :) The Musashi P30 are the best Protein Drink I have found by far. I actually like all the flavours too. Glad I found someone else drinking them as I was concerned that these were inhibiting my weightloss. I am rest assured by your update.

I'm sure you will easily meet a 20kg weight loss by Christmas

Hi Ladies, does anyone know if the Mushashi drinks are gluten free please? Also I am allowed non starchy vege and salad during prep, but do you know if I can include avocado? Love it and it helps ake salads more interesting. Thanks, kelli

Hi Shelley, my husband and I are visiting his family in North Queensland this Christmas and I am like you and want to have lost about 20kgs by then. The only person thre who knows about my op is my mother-in-law and I've asked her not to tell anyone. I will do so when I am ready.

I'm not sure if they are gluten free. Can you tell by the ingredients? Not sure about the avocado either. My preop was green leafy veg/salad only.

Hi Michelle, if may say on the box, gluten free or contains gluten. Do you have one you could check please when you have time? Otherwise Ii will need to check ingredients list next time I shop. Do you buy these in the supermarket or are they a health food shop speciality? Thanks kelli

Hi Kelli, doesn't say either of those. If you go to www.Musashi.com.au/products/P-Range and then select the high Protein milk drink, that gives you a break down of ingredients.

I buy the pre made ones. They are available at Coles supermarkets .

Hi Kelliv, each surgeon is different and I was on clear fluids first 24hrs, then fluids like drinking yoghurts, Soups etc, for 2 weeks then I can go on soft/mushy foods for next 2 then can eat normal at week 4. My salmon today was very soft and shredded into the tiniest size possible. Going to go and buy a receipe book on some ideas.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
