Approval Should Come Tomorrow

Recommended Posts

Hi-

I like to creep around here from time to time and read experiences, but now that i'm a day away from hopefully getting approval i thought i'd share my 8 month journey i have been on.

I have medica insurance and the hospital told me up front they are bad to deal with, i guess i didnt understand how bad.

I have bills coming out of my ears, i have had lots of things coded wrong or not covered i play ping pong between the hospital and medica, but i just say hey i'm paying what i can, but not paying what you want until its all corrected :)

The 6th month visits were actually very eye opening about what i was really eating, i kept a chart and made sure to be very honest. My first 2 appts were with the same person, then i had to switch and see a new person each month after as my hospital is short staffed so it was interesting to hear what one person said i was doing well the other person said i was doing wrong and my second to the last person i seen really freaked me out, she said she can hold my approval up and extend the sessions, basically i ended up leaving the appointment in tears and called into work devestaed lets just say after that i was a little less honest about my food charts, but they were really the best that i could do. April 6th, i had my final appointment and a new woman said i had done great and even lost 2 pounds in the last month.

So my hospital sumitted my paperwork and a nice letter from my surgeon and of course medica didn't get the fax just my luck! So last week it was recieved and they say tomorrow is going to be the day.

The time does really go by quickly and a couple months ago i was having bad anxiety i think because it was becoming a reality, but now i'm just ready. I bought the brightest pink hello kitty lounge pants i can find for my hospital stay, i figure hey might as well be bright and cheery :)

Anyway this is just a short version of how my last 8 months have gone, i'm looking foward to the future and being healthy and happy again.

Thanks for reading.

Rai

Good luck, Rai! I'm sorry you've had bumps along the way but that seems to be the way it is with insurance and the medical profession. Remember if you get denied to appeal. I've seen a bunch of posts from people who were denied coverage and then got approved. Don't get discourage if that happens!

Keep us posted.

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
