Hoping They Dont Postpone My Surgery

Recommended Posts

So today after speaking to my NUT she told me that what I was eating as my two week pre op diet was all wrong and that I should be having the Bariatric Advantage Meal Replacement shakes. But my surgery is on May 1st and there is no way I can have it deliver at a reasonable time. Anyways after reading some of the topics I asked her if I can use Body Fortress and she mention that while it's not her first choice she's not completely against it. So now I'm just worried is there any way that they can stop my surgery because I did'nt do as I was told. I have been waiting so long for this surgery and I wouldn't want for it to be cancel. Hopefully someone can share their experience so I know I'm not alone here.

It's all about the liver, they need your liver to shrink. My NUT gave me recommendations for Protein shakes. I did EAS Carb control AdvanEdge already made shakes. I'm on the go so I don't have time for a blender. That was 110 cals with 17 grams of Protein had the twice or sometimes three a day. Then small meal at night, Jello and Water in between. What is it that your NUT wants you to focus on? Are you liquids only or low carb? Have you lost any weight?

My surgeon provided different choices. The Bariatric Advantage was one of them but I used Designer whey and picked it up at the grocery store. She should give you guidelines as to what they want the Protein Shake to consist of I would think. Doubt she will cancel your surgery if you stick closely to your diet and have lost some weight by surgery. Praying that your surgery will move forward as scheduled for you!

I think you'll be ok. I drink the body fortress shakes. My pre op was only 1 week. My hubby is going in April 30. He starts his pre op Monday. Walmart-15.00 body fortress.

Sorry for the late respond I went to Walmart and bought the body fortress I bout the chocolate, chocolate with Peanut Butter, Cookies and cream, and strawberry. Has anyone had these favors?should I take some back? Will I be able to use them after surgery? I am only on liquid diet from tomorrow on of course. I was told to have a shake every three hours and to have some salad as well. But Otherwise all I can have is liquid. Crystals light, Jello, broth, and Protein Shake, are the only thing I can have from tomorrow till surgery on May 1st. Now my question still stands can they postpone surgery because I did not complete a full two week of pre op

Only reason they would postpone is if you didn't follow the plan and gain weight or if they do the surgery and your liver is too big they can reschedule. Honestly you should be ok, I'd call your surgeons office and ask. Only they know really what would have to happen for them to reschedule. Least you'll have piece of mind verses worrying based off of advice from us you know.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
