Ok, so if I eat a 10# wheel of white sharp cheddar from Wisconsin, just sliced and eaten straight from the wheel, preferably at room temperature, I should, in theory, gain only 10#??

Where do I go to purchase a wheel of cheese? How much is a flight from Houston to Wisconsin?

I knew it. I just knew I was different! I can eat a large wedge of Brie with a few Water crackers and I gain 10 lbs. and the food weighs much less than 10 lbs. Ha! This is proof positive that my metabolism is MUCH lower than anyone elses. I'm a freak.

How much does a cat turd cake weigh anyway?

I love aged sharp cheeses, creamy yet tangy blue cheeses, and double or triple creme bries and camemberts. I adore Romano Pecorino and those horribly expensive regional Italian parmesan cheeses, and I just adore a fine aged Canadian cheddar made at one of those little country dairies. Ooooh! Yep, I've spent a lot of money on cheese over the years and gained a lot of lard. And I have a life-time subscription to Lipitor, thanks to my cholesterol readings. *sob*

(Actually, my cholesterol has dropped since I got the band and cut back on the cheese in-take! How could something so wonderful be so evil????)

As for the litter cake, I could never consider eating it. I have had cats and dealt with their litter for far too long now. Just looking at the photo makes me feel and knowing that it's edible makes me feel kind of strange. But I think it is hilarious in a barfy sort of way!:D

:eek:So why do they say all we have to do is eat 3,500 calories to gain a lb. ? I always wondered how it was possible for me to gain 5 lbs in one day when what I ate didn't weigh 5 lbs. Am I a freak? never mind, don't answer that:eek::rolleyes

I am one of the ones that recently asked the question, what is PB? It made me feel good that it gave some of you guys something to talk about! I had to smile and even laugh out loud a few times. Not sorry I asked!

I am sure most people have asked that question. I think some people go to the frequently asked questions first, but a lot of people just start posting away. We all were new and even at 5 months, I still feel new.

The real question is-why do some people eat things that they know will make them pb????? I guess us bansters (food addicts) have to give it the good ol college try :)

I went to a great new theatre in the area. They serve rather gourmet food and the chairs and tables are quite comfortabe and nice. The best way to enjoy this dining/movie atmosphere is to get seated around 20 to 30 minutes prior to the dimming of the lights. Today we weren't able to do that and did not get our meals ordered until just before the trailers began. Once our food arrived, I was engrossed in an exciting movie to be coming soon, took a bite of my turkey/gouda sandwich. It went down just fine, but just to be careful I took another very small bite, chewed like crazy and felt great. Then my wandering fingers grasped a lovely well-seasoned french fry. Yum my tummy thought. I nibbled on it while watching the coming attractions. OMG!!! Within a very few moments, the old pain rose in my chest and I knew I was in trouble! I wound up having to excuse myself after the movie started, not once, but twice! It was probably the worst PB experience that I've ever had. Needless to say it ruined my afternoon. I could hardly sip Water even later in the day. Tonight, I was so depressed I ate ice cream for dinner. Yee gads, what the heck is up with me??? :cry

BJean, I totally understand where you are coming from. I have not been able to keep a fry down since getting banded. And, if I am just having a bad PB day, I always resort to my favorite meal that always stays down...Peanut Butter Tracks Ice Cream, YUMMY!

Add my name to the list. FF have been a big no-no for me since I first experienced good restriction. Since my recent unfill, though, I have enjoyed a few. Next Monday I get another fill (my second since being "emptied" almost 2 months ago), and thereafter I'm expecting to say goodbye again to FF and other things I have become reacquainted with. Ice cream was never off my radar screen!

Thanks you all. I'm rather discouraged with myself. I'm floundering and have been for several months now. Before, when I was losing consistently I couldn't understand why people would sabbotage their band. It just didn't make sense to me. Well, it still doesn't but now I have found that I am doing just that.

Carlene: what happened that you had to get an unfill? I've begun to wonder if I don't have something else going on. I keep blaming it on my head, but I know it isn't entirely that. The way I feel now is different when I eat than it was for the first 7 months. I'm definitely having more problems than just the hunger.

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
