Hey there

I'm scheduled for May 15th at 1pm :)

If i can make it through this 10 day liquid diet the rest should be easy, i've never looked forward to using my blender to chop meat in my life...

The first day was pretty bad, i was very grouchy... It's just trying to keep myself busy so i can forget about the hunger pains which are still very strong as is my headache. I think my body is pissed, its making the most awful sounds.... :)

But i can't wait!

Scared, excited and ready to be healthy and able to fit into a rollercoaster again..

Good luck with everyone!

Rai

Hey everyone,

I am a week out from surgery, May 14. I have been on a liquid diet with a lean cuisine at night. I lost 18 pounds in one week!!! I can't wait to see what the scale holds next week. I love the Protein shake from GNC. It is called Go Lean shake and only has 170 calories. YUMMY!

I haven't started my liquid diet yet. Have May 9th pre-op where I will be given my instructions. I am so excited to get this started. I backed out of the bypass surgery 3 years ago. Am glad that I waited so I could have the sleeve.

Have been reading everything that I can find about the surgery. Still can't get the hubbie on the band wagon, but everyone else is as excited as I am.

I have an 8am checkin and surgery should be around 9:30 or 10am.

My wife was the same way. I went to the meeting by myself to learn about the sleeve. Really she has a fear of death, so I understand. I told her "Rather I can chance it now and live for a long healthy life for a long time or I can have all these problems and die sooner." So go Froggylady. Do what has to be done and he will come aboard after he sees how much happier you are. I don't know from experience, but just looking at the pictures of the people who have had the sleeve.

Lolly-

I'm on full Protein shakes, sugar free Jello and pina colada popsicles.... All the broth i have tried makes me gag, it smells so bad..

I just wish i could eat fruit or even veggies..

My hubby made it through 2 days with me and he finally gave up this morning, but he is a typical man and not following the 5 shake a day deal..

It's just really hard with a "normal" size tummy...I pray that after this is done and Protein Shake will fill me up and i won't have the shakes and headache like i'm starving...

Just waxed my car that's how busy i'm trying to keep my brain! :)

I am afraid of death too but like I told my family, its a lot more likely that I will die from a car accident or from obesity related issues than from the surgery. Its why I took so long and so much effort finding the right surgeon for me. My surgery is in less than three days and I am terrified at times and at other times I am sooooooooooooooo excitedddddddddddddddd! In a way I am glad I have finals at school because it leaves me less time to think about this. Like I told my aunt yesterday (who is thinking of having the surgery next) I know its not going to be easy and I know I am making a huge change in my body and my life, but everything in me tells me its for the best.

Rai I wish I had time to wax my car! My daugther asked me yesterday what I wanted for mothers day (I will be gone for mothers day :-( since my surgery is in Mexico (on Mexican Mothers day!) and I don't return until Sunday. My answer was "I have more than I ever wanted, but it would be awesome if I find a my car clean when I get home!" LOL..... I should had mentioned I would love to have my house clean too but that might be pushing it LOL

Day one of Pre-op diet... I've done well all day at work, but now I'm pretty sure I could seriously hurt someone - bad. I have a feeling I'll be going to bed really early the next 10 days... :/

On day 4 of the 2 week liquid pre-op diet. Surgery scheduled for June 11th.
Soooo I am coming to a realization
of something and I'm not sure what to do about it. For years the only thing I've enjoyed is eating. We rarely do anything or go anywhere and if we do it always includes food. Family comes over? Big family dinner! Go camping? Food! Take a short ride or trip? Food! Holiday? Food! Go out of town for a Dr appointment? Food! When we go to a new town we don't look for any attractions, we look for restaurants we haven't been to. Heck, I look forward to getting off work because that means it's almost supper time. Now that I'm drinking these pre-op shakes for breakfast, lunch, and supper I have nothing to look forward to.  And once I have surgery on June 11th it'll be more of the same shakes. Even after pureed stage, soft food stage, and finally regular food stage, it's going to be a drastic change for the rest of my life. I'm giving up the one thing that really brings me joy. Eating. How do you cope with that? What do you do to fill that void? Wow. Now I'm sad.

Life as a big person had limited my life to what I knew I could manage to do each day. That was eat. I hadn't anything else to look forward to. So my eating choices were the best I could dream up. I planned the cooking in managable lots in my head and filled my day with and around it.

Now I have a whole new big, bigger, biggest, best days ever. I am out there with those skinny people doing stuff i could never have dreamt of. Food is now an after thought. It doesn't consume my day. I still enjoy the good home cooked food but I eat smaller portions. I leave food on my plate when I am full. I can no longer hear my mother's voice saying eat it all up, ther are starving children in Africa who would want that!

I still cook for family feasts, I love cooking. I still do holidays but I have changed from the All inclusive drinking and eating everything everyday kind to Self catering accommodation. This gives me the choice of cooking or eating out as I choose. I rarely drink anymore as I usually travel alone now and I feel I need to keep aware of my surroundings.

I don't know at what point my life expanded, was it when I lost 100 pounds? Was it when I left my walking stick at home ? Was it when I said yes to an outing instead of finding an excuse to stay home ? i look back at my last five years and wonder how loosing weight has made such a difference. Be ready to amaze yourself.

BTW, the liquid diet sucks, one more day and you are over the worst. You can do it.

Three months and four days ago... I was in Costa Rica having a life changing surgery! Yesterday we had a followup visit with Dr. Esmeral via video chat and this morning my middle number changed.  I'm down 47lbs and two pants sizes. I can wear a Large tshirt for the first time in like... 14 years! Woot!! Everything is going great. I have zero regrets. I went down to the riverwalk with a friend and walked 2 miles on Monday without even getting fatigued. And no more snoring or chugging pickle juice for crazy leg cramps! I need to go to the gym more... I'm making new shirts next week so that will motivate me. LOL But I'm also just not as TIRED all the time! I have a LONG way to go...but seeing the progress on the scales and in the mirror is a huge motivator!! Thank you all for cheering me on and supporting me!!
