Pre-Op And Alcohol

Hey, I have a question for the post op people here. I start my 8 day liquid diet on Sunday and my husband wants to have a couple drinks with me on Saturday night. I know I may never really be able to drink again, so would like to do this. I don't want to put my surgery at risk in any way, my understanding is that alcohol is out of your system in 24 hours. Did anyone else do this? Thoughts?

I don't think it would be a problem. If you are having a few drinks nine days out, it shouldn't be a huge issue. I had a few during my pre-op diet but my surgeon was very liberal with the pre-op diet.

I would guess that you will be able to drink again after surgery, don't write it off just yet. You might just have a lower tolerance.

Be safe and call your surgeon's office to be sure. You don't want to jeopardize anything, for sure!

The only concern I would think of is your liver. Over a week before surgery I would think would be fine as long as you are not overdoing it. You want your liver to be as healthy as possible when you have surgery. If you are really concerned, give your surgeon's office a call to be sure.
