4 months post op. Age 27 and single and hating it. I hate dating ugh. I'm loving this new found self confidence though. I feel and look better! Definitely getting a lot more attention from men although don't get asked out much [emoji19]

It's not an easy journey, you have serious work to do changing your internal self image to your external. Many women find that they are offended because they are getting attention because of their external appearance and that offends them because internally they feel the same, which reinforces an idea that "guys just care about looks." That's about as true as "women only care about how much you make." Finding the right person for you is damn difficult. It's just a reality. But I tripled the number of prospective Mrs. Pirates by quitting smoking and met even more when I lost weight. I KNOW it is much different when you are a woman an being "pursued" but it still sucks being a scorned guy so take some solace in that.

I am single and will have a sleeve done in December. I have confidence now, but I do notice when I lose weight I worry less about how my cloths look, or if I can fit somewhere. So, I look forward to that!

Hey Single Sleevers. Question for u all...
I had my sleeve done over 3 years ago and while I feel confident with how I look WITH clothes on, I feel opposite without them. This makes dating and relationships challenging when it comes to physical intimacy.

I haven't had plastics yet, but likely will in the Fall of this year.

Until then, I'm wondering how u all have dealt with any negative body image issues when it comes to sex.

I want to feel free, unlimited and comfortable. But I don't. I feel stressed, confined as embarrassed :s

You?

I haven't even gotten close to that stage in a relationship but if my partner didn't have a problem with it, I wouldn't. The hard part is attracting someone with it.

Thanks for replying sgc. I feel strange because it's not noticeable with clothes on. But will be with clothes off lol. Eeeek! And I have not told him about the surgery. He knows I've had struggles with food my whole life and that I've fluctuated with my weight over the years but I haven't told him I had the surgery.

I am having a terrible time finding a good man who will accept me for what I can offer them despite the weight loss. I suppose my physical disability turns them off more than the weight loss and excess skin I have all over my body. I was suppose to have the first of 4 Excess skin removal surgeries but that got canceled as the test results showed something that has to be biopsied. Once the excess skin is removed the spine Doctor said he could possibly fix my back. That will not be for at least another 2 to 3 years. I have been single for the last 13 yeas and I guess another 2 or 3 more years shouldn't make that much different despite the fact that I am 61 years old now. But I sure am lonely!

Single, two months out. I'm 46 and never wanted kids or a husband to deal with.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
