Not-Sweet Drink Suggestions

Recommended Posts

Since my surgery I find that I don't really like "sweet" drinks -- i.e. Sobe zero, crystal light, diet green tea. I can only drink so much plain water! I would drink regular iced tea with just a little sweetener or none but it has caffeine and that is off limits. Any suggestions?

If you take some Water and a slice of lemon it gives it a taste that you can adjust just by squeezing the slice into the water a little more.

I also like soaking ginger in Water to infuse it (Cucumber also works, or a combination)--that gives a nice flavor, and then take out the ginger and drink! Also try herbal teas, iced or hot.

I feel you~! I've never liked artifically sweet and super sweet flavors.

I LOVE iced tea and brew up super dark decafinated tea using my coffee pot and transfer it into an old juice bottle and put it in the fridge. When it's dark like that I mix it with Water and ice and drink away.

I don't like sweet drinks either and had a heck of a time for a while. I have a few of the "serving size" packets that are added to a bottle of Water and I use a packet to make about 5 bottles of water instead of one bottle. Even the vitawater zero I mix with water. One bottle is split at least three times.

I like orange flavor G2 the best if I have to drink anything full strength. For some reason, it's not as icky sweet to me.

I stuck with the Crystal Light Peach Tea, It's pretty good, I don't use too much since I don't like drinks to sweet and I find the Crystal Light is on the Sweeter side so I dilute to my taste, I'm too lazy for anything else right now and since I just got sleeved on 3/14/12 I'm too focused on how to get the Protein in. Good Luck! :D

Starting Weight: 250lbs Height 5'4"

After 2 day liquid diet: 247lbs

VSG Surgery 3/14/12

3/26/12 Weigh In: 236lbs

Goal: 135

I agree - lemon or cucumber in Water, even whole raspberries - all give flavor without the sweetness. I love iced tea - brew your own Decaf. Also try the lemon lime g2...its almost salty tasting. It's the only flavored drink I can stand. Good luck!!

You could always go for the standby lemon wedge in Water, but try other fruits. Oranges are great, as is watermelon or other melons. Good luck!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
