Going To Cab San Lucas Post Surgery...

Recommended Posts

Sorry to post this in this forum area. I wasn't sure where else to post it. I will be getting my sleeve in May and going on vacation (to Celebrate the big 4-0) in October. I wanted to hear from some of you on how you deal with vacations while sleeved. I will be a few months out so it will be up to me to work my sleeve and remain in control. We are staying at an adult only all-inclusive resort so the food and drinks will be flowing. I know it is a ways off but I am already worried about how to deal with this situation. Thank you for letting me rant.

I'm having my surgery on Monday and planning a trip to Cabo in December.

I previously went to Cabo with a friend who was about 6 months post-op. There were plenty of food choices for him. For Breakfast he was able to get eggs and bacon from the buffet. The majority of his other meals consisted of shrimp or chicken. On the one occasion he ordered chicken fettuccine he picked out the chicken and only ate a few of the noodles. Drinking wise he stuck mainly to vodka and had several drinks during our trip. Because of all the walking and swimming we did he still managed to loose a few pounds while we were there.

Hope you have a great trip!

I went on a family trip to Disney when I was a little over 5 months out, and I had some concerns as well. Fortunately, most of those concerns were for nothing. I lossened up on my diet and ate pretty much what I wanted, within reason. My sleeve doesn't tolerate bread, pastas, potatoes well anyway so I stick more to Protein naturally. But I did indulge in a few bites of dessert every night! I had a few drinks while there as well, no problem. We ate at quite a few buffet restaurants, and all I can say about that is you have to get over the fact the you are not "getting your moneys worth." Once I got over that mentality, I realized buffets were actually a great option b/c I could pick and choose what I wanted to take a bit or two of and move on. You will be fine, enjoy your trip!

Oh, and by the way, I lost 3 lbs that week!

THank you both so much for your replies. I didn't even think that a buffet could help. That is true though so you can pick and choose what you can have. Being that we will be on the ocean I am going to try and stock up on fish and shrimp and maybe some fruit. Thanks again ladies.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
