Is killing me right now. I ate so many carbs/starches before this surgery. I keep wanting a sandwich or mac and cheese lol. I quit watching the food channel after my nutritionist told me it was food porn and will only frustrate me further. Its just frustrating when your sick of the options that you have. I am glad I got this surgery but its the mental part I wish that wld change as well.

I love that it's called food porn, too. I watched a TON of food network right after surgery, but I did stick with shows where the host's taste is different from mine. Guy Fieri's recipes always make me go blech, so I watched every show he was in. I like him, but I've made three of his recipes and they didn't do a darn thing for me.

It is totally food porn! U know what gets me so pissed is that at the gym they have "food network" as one of the presets on a Tv. I mean really we r here cuz we r fat and thats what I have to watch ... JERKS.

Anywho I LOVEEE carbs and well I am 3 months out and there r still days when Im just like WTH and sit around being crappy all day cuz I am carb deprived. I am mean to the world and just plain PMS-y without the pms. LoL

Usually those days I end up eating my good for me popcorn and having an extra cheesestick. Now that I am writing this I cant remember how far along u are so I am not sure if u can have those things yet or not. I wish i could say it gets easier, but I just dont think it does. Its a battle I fight everyday non-stop. I love my Pasta, my chips, my subway, MY CARBS! LoL. U arent alone though, keep up the good work and at least u can say u lost ur weight even if u did miss ur sandwiches along the way.

It was hard at first. If you're still on a restricted diet that makes it even harder. In the beginning when I could only eat a few bites of a meal and actually wanted (NEEDED) to eat more I was so incredibly frustrated by commercials and food television.

Once you get into eating a more regular diet it should go away. Well, with the exception of that monthly cycle. I could eat paint chips off the wall during the day before my cycle starts if I got hungry enough! It's the only real head hunger I feel now.

You're less than a month out. Trust me that this does fade and get easier. And I was a carb junkie prior to surgery, too. Those cravings take a long time to leave the body. You will get there. I'll be honest and suggest that you evaluate what you're eating. If you're severely restricting your carbs (40-50 per day) you might consider allowing yourself an increase to see how you do. If you don't see negative effects on the scale but do notice that you're not feeling denied, well, that's excellent progress.

Jumping from pre-op diet to a no-fat, no-carb incredibly strict diet post-op isn't an easy transition mentally or physically. I'd reevaluate if you think this might be part of your issue. This is forever - you chose an irreversible surgery. So expecting yourself to live on a diet forever isn't going to make you a happy person, even if it does get you to goal.

Branch out your options as much as possible! Spice things up and see how that helps. I sometimes hit a slump (at 19 months out!) where I get sick of eating Protein first and need to make a change in what I'm eating.

Good luck,

~Cheri

Oh how I wish I wanted food....my friends mom made me chicken Soup from scratch and it smelled so unbelievably good...but when I tried to eat a little I thought I was going to throw up my insides...I haven't been able to eat anything and the thought of food makes me sick...I'm just trying to focus on liquids and Protein Shakes.< /p>

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
