Feb Sleevers-What Are You Eating?

Recommended Posts

Three and a half weeks out and I am on pureed foods, but have also had some soft foods too. I cannot eat more than two tablespoons of anything and found out the hard way how the sleeve lets you know when you have had enough. (ie- vomiting). Best thing I have eaten so far is cottage cheese- how sad is that !! Anyway, today I am down 22 pounds from pre surgery weight and 33 lbs from the beginning of the year.

Feb 13 surgery also. I have been on pureed/soft foods for 2 weeks now. You don't have to puree everything. My nut said if it is soft enough that you could mush it with a fork, it doesn't have to be pureed. Good Luck

Jerry, I think that is a VERY normal occurrence for us to have the emotional roller coaster effect after this surgery. I read about it in the packet I was given from the surgeon and in other places. Women get a double dose because the weight loss is kicking all the sleeping hormones back into play. I don't know how men and hormones work, but there could be some of that too. It IS an emotional time for all of us, and it's important to get support for yourself during this time. If your surgery was in the U.S., does your surgeon have a support group? Please seek some kind of local support, even if it's going to see your regular doctor. Please let go of the "guilty" thing. We're past that. This is a NEW life!! If you're only taking in that many calories, there's no need to worry. In fact, you may need a few more! You don't want to kill your metabolism by letting your body slip into starvation mode. Also, exercise is a good combatant for the blues. Hard to do when you feel down, but force yourself to do it. I hope any of this is a help.

I was sleeved 2/13 and I am eating soft foods: chicken/tuna/salmon mixed with mayo, cottage/cheddar/sandwich cheese, refried Beans. I even ate a little spaghetti with meat sauce on Sunday and dang, it was good! I am eating 800 to 900 calories a day, and getting 50 to 70 grams of Protein with no Protein supplements. Eating slowly is important so that "uh oh" feeling doesn't surprise me. I still can't tolerate eggs and I love them :-(

I go to my 2nd post-op visit next Tuesday and they're going to draw blood to make sure I am doing well. So, we'll see. I feel fine physically, just a bit tired. I haven't lost more than a pound this past week but I figure my body is just taking a breather :-)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
