Hair Growing Back WHOOOT!

Recommended Posts

I started losing my hair, tons of hair at 5 months out, thought I was going bald. I cried and cried because all that is left is strings.....but.......its finally growing back at 9 months (I look like a baby bird LOLOL).

I did not take anything special nor did not do anything to it to try to get it to come back (my doc said nothing is proven to help anyway).

My point is... to those losing your hair.....

HANG IN THERE !!!!!

Wow, you lost that much? ;)

I've been noticing a small bit each morning when I was my hair. Maybe 5 - 8 strands, nothing like a "clump". But I'm just today 5 mos out.

Wheet's it was soooooo bad. I mean I'm not bald but you can clearly see my scalp now (big part :D ) and it came out in handfulls, every time I put my hands on my hair it would come out in fist fulls. My DD was so grossed out by it b/c it was every where and the shower drain was packed every time I washed my hair (which is every day). Thank God I had alot to begin with.

Vegas hopefully you won't lose that much.

Tricia ;)

I had posted about Hair loss a couple months ago. But now it has stoped and is coming back also. I had lost about 50% of my hair. It was really thinck to begin with so I was lucky. Man was that scary. I tried Nioxin and a couple other things in the beginning. But it was all a waste of money. I guess all it takes is time. Its a huge relief for both of us. Congrats.

That's excellent news Eileen! As frightening as it is, it really is just temporary, unless you have a metabolic thing going on. It's just simply body trauma, as if that could be described as "simple trama."

((((hugs))))

Thanks Crystal, and your right it is scary, especially when doctors don't tell you this could happen. Its almost like a cruel joke ya know :D;) to you.

;):D :D

I have really thick hair, I actually get it thinned when I get it cut - I guess I need to tell my girl to stop doing that!

Dang. :D

Did it fall out that much all at once, or did you start with a little loss that increased more and more as time went by?

Umm, I sound like a real dumb-dumb above.

I don't mean "did all your hair fall out at once?"

I mean - the first time you noticed it was falling out, was it a handful? Or did it start with just a few strands in the beginning, and over time progress to being a handful?

Glad to hear it, I have (I mean HAD) lots of hair but it is looking pretty thin right now. It has to be the surgery and maybe for me not eating much for the first few weeks. I've lost weight before (100 pounds fast) AND never lost hair!

Such great news! My hair "shedding" has slowed and I am growing news ones as well. I loved the "baby bird" analogy.

Are you still losing a bit more than usual or has that pretty much stalled? So glad those "babies" are growing in!!

Wheetsbaby, I think it is different for everyone. I've had it come out in handfuls, (after a D&C and tubal when Spud was a tatertot), and I've had it just sort of shed like a house cat's winter coat.

Hah! the cruel jokes on me, with my red moon face, the terrible acne and the facial hair... :faint:

Wheetsin, my Hair loss started with a few strands and is now at full shed! I don't lose "clumps", but every time I was and style my hair I lose a TON of "singles".

It's starting to depress me.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!
