Do they have a nurse line or an on call doc you can call for a quick answer? That's the worst feeling trying to sleep through. :s

I was told to take Prevacid by breaking the capsule open and taking it with something. (like a tablespoon of liquid or applesauce). I am still doing that now. (except now, I put a little whipped cream on a spoon & spinkle the pellets from inside of the capsule on it-so it has become a treat!) Also I was told to crush all pills (pill crushers are available at the pharmacy), just make sure you ask the pharmacist or your Dr before crushing pills, because some should not be crushed. I was told not to swallow anything bigger than an m&m, (I was also told I could take chewable Tums as needed) Hope this helps. Also hope you feel better soon!

Excellent answer. And great idea about the whip cream. Some binders taste really bad. I am gonna get me some whip whip

To the OP you should get both prilosec and prevacid. Please allow atleast 3 or 4 days to allow the full effect. If it doesnt work with you switch to the other one. Give it time.

I stress On heartburn the most. My cure for that is bread. But now that I am about to cut my guts I know bread isnt something that I can revert back to.

So I bought both and a ton of gasx strips. I wanna be prepared. Let me know which works best for you

Every doc/nutritionist is different but I was told after surgery to avoid any pills larger than an aspirin for the first few months, but capsules/softgels were OK. My ulcerative colitis meds are capsules and I've been taking 8 per day starting 4 days post-op.

I take Prevacid every morning but the dr prescribed me a disolvable tablet. All of my meds are either liquid, chewable, or disolvable. He told me to take the prevacid everyday for 6 months.

My antacids post-op were in capsule form. I took them starting on day 4. Indymom and I were given similar instructions.

I could have tablets the size of a baby aspirin, or true capsules (no caplets or gelcaps, etc).

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
