Hi Everyone!
I have been reading all of the blogs and forums for months while I worked to get my insurance approval. I got the call today that my insurance has approved my VSG!!! I don't have a date set yet but having that approval means everything to me. Insurance first denied my request and wanted me to go through the 6 month pre-op diet. However, I wrote an appeal letter myself and went into great detail about my medical history and medications, including PCOS, hypothyroidism and growth hormone deficiencies and pre-diabetic and explained that losing weight would help with all of these issues, my weight loss journey including years of Weight Watchers and counting calories to lose weight, only to gain it all back, and something in that letter worked because they approved me. So my point is I guess is to never give up or lose hope, and that sometimes we are our own best advocate and need to fight for what we need.
I have 40 pounds to lose pre-op, but I am going to bust my butt to get it off so I can have that surgery asap. I will post once I have a surgery date. I am very scared but excited at the same time. I am ready, as we all are, to start a new life!!!
