Hi all, I am in the beginning stages of my journey. I have been overweight my entire life, tried every diet imaginable, some with success (some with great success I might add) but I always gain it right back. I am scared for my health, I don't want to die young because of my weight or have serious health problems. I met with my surgeon for the first time 6 weeks ago, had an EGD performed because of acid reflux, have been to a couple of support groups and had my pscyh consult last week. So now I wait. My doc wants me to lose about 40 pounds before he'd do surgery and I did great the first two weeks, but now it seems like I can not stop eating! I've been reading other blogs about "food funerals" and I think that is exactly what's going on. Mentally, I think "oh I need to have this before I have surgery or gotta make sure to have that one more time." It's horrible! Totally a mind trip. And I feel terribly guilty after I've eaten. So instead of losing weight, I've actually gained 3 more pounds. I need to get serious about this pre-surgery diet and quit thinking "oh one more time for this or that" because it's adding up fast! Any advice on getting through, to get a good jumpstart on my pre-op diet? I really want to have this done, I'm ready for a change! I need to get this "food funeral" mentality out of my mind!
