January 2012 Sleevers!

Rather than keeping the old January (2011) thread resurrected, I thought it was about time to start a 2012 thread.

I'm scheduled for January 23, 2012, and just got my official insurance approval yesterday.

I am absolutely PUMPED about this surgery. I can't wait... I'm anticipating crazy nerves as it draws nearer, but for now, I'll ride the wave of excitement, thank you very much. biggrin.gif

  • I'm done!!! I'm sleeved!! It was almost totally painless! Tomorrow I will probably be a little sore. Not taking any pain medications and I've been out of surgery for 4 hours now. Good luck everyone el

I am sleeved. Yesterday I was in horrible pain. Got up to walk finally at 4 am . Super tired. Still waiting to drink something. Hard part is over though. I made it to the losers bench!!

  • Well I'm sleeved! yesterday was the first day to my new life! Surgery went great! hardly had pain, got up and walked around by 4ish, did that a few more times, eating ice chips and doing well. Tod

So I'm trying to gauge if what I'm feeling is normal, but my left side where I assume that my stomach is is still very tender and if I move in the wrong direction I feel like my insides are being ripped. If I'm sitting it's not bad at all. Walking is a little painful, but not overly so, but no bending over, no stretching my left arm. My right side, if it wasn't for the incisions, I wouldn't even know I had them. I don't feel them at all.

My doc said to let him know right away if I had a left side pain.

Well it's similar to what i felt after my c section and I really do feel fine other than that and when I take my liquid lortab it does lessen significantly.

That is exactly how I feel.

My doc calls full liquid, protein shakes, soups, greek yogurt, sf pudding as long as I add protein (need 60-70gm/day) and as long as there are no pieces. What does your doc allow on the full liquid phase?

Soups not creamed and with only protein powder added, protein shakes with water milk or yogurt, broth, jello, milk, meal replacements, yogurt drinks, oh and I was allowed pudding or applesauce only for taking my pills. If I had to blend it to make it drinkable then it was puréed, whatever I ate had to come in a liquid form

That is exactly how I feel.

THANK YOU! :)

I did email my surgeon this morning and he got back to me a few minutes ago and said it's all normal, don't push it and take some liquid advil 2 times a day for 3-4 days. He said in a few more days it shouldn't be as much of an acute pain as it is right now.

How long are you all on clear liquids, then how long on full? I was told two days clear but it's a week out and I'm still doing it because I don't feel ready though I added protein shakes. Do for me one week out I'm doing broth, tea, isopure, water and protein shakes. I have zero real hunger and occasional head hunger but it's getting better. There are so many food ads!

hello ladies,

I've been MIA because between work and my grad school I'm exhausted...I've been sleeping A LOT...is anyone very tired afte WLS? I got a B12 shot prescription and going to get a shot once a month...I am almost one month after surgery and lost 30 pounds...no issues except of being tired and sleeping a lot :))))

Today is my birthday and I am going to CHEAT and have a small margarita :)))

Glad everyone is doing well!!!

I was on clear liquids for 2 days, but did them for 3, but I just wasn't hungry at all so I didn't drink as much as I should've and now I'm a little constipated. Passing gas just fine, but still constipated. I started full liquids yesterday and took some plain greek yogurt and blended in 1/2 a Protein shake and drank that for Breakfast and tolerated it fine. For lunch and dinner I had some Cream of chicken Soup with unjury unflavored protein made with skim milk and that went down just fine too.

I haven't had any issues with gas pains or nausea (KNOCK ON WOOD). I know I need to increase my water intake. I do well when I remember, but it seems there's chunks of the day where I just forget.

I do know that my head is craving scallops. It's almost like I'm pissed at myself I didn't have a 'last meal'. I told my hubs that when I'm healed and can eat regular food I'd like to go out for good scallops. I'll take 1 and he can have the rest. LOL

I was 5 days on clear, then started my 2 wks on full liquids, this past Sat.

Is that 30# post surgery? Either way yay! I'm one week post op and gained ten pounds in Fluid the day after but over all am down 22 total since pre op.

I was sleeved on 1/17/12 and I cant seem to get my protein shakes down... I can drink liquids fine and I have have tried everything under the sun... I started with a choc shake from muscle max, then isopure from GNC (gross), then the vanilla shakes from Costco (was ok at first)... How the heck can can I get protein in??? I was thinking about trying an unflovered powder and geek yogurt with some fruit and make a smoothie...

My schedule is

1 week clear liquids - no protein shakes - thought I was gonna die lol

1 week full liquids - add protein shakes no cream soups

2 weeks puréed food

2 weeks soft foods

Then on the 7th week I can eat anything and start adding in beef
