MTC - I totally know how you feel!

The little things really set me off sometimes too. I was stuck at 231 for what seemed like forever and came back from vacation down to 229. Today it's 226! When I went to update my ticker, my last update was at 233. I panicked for a minute because I after I weighed I had in my head I weighed 236 and was disappointed to see 233 on my ticker. I had to go back and weigh again to confirm that I was in the 220s! I haven't been in the 220s since 2006!

Hey! how's everyone doing? I'm great and down 31 lbs! :-) wish it could be more but Im thanking God that I'm losing weight! I don't regret the surgery at all!

I had a question...

Has anyone started noticing hair loss? are y'all taking anything for it?

Can't wait to hear from you all!

I am doing well - learning to live differently; always have to remind myself to eat slower and remember to think small portions - I am down 39 pounds from my highest weight -34 from my surgery weight; I am happy. My clothes are all baggy and comfortable.

Did not however think it would be as emotionally difficult - I find myself shying away from crowds and people in general. Walked into a clothing store only to walk out fast as it was all too overwhelming to me at this time. Thought I would be excited to buy new clothes but I am not at all; maybe the plus size stores were simplier; not nearly as many choices. food was my comfort now I seek other comforts.

All and all I am happy with my decision - just want to suck down a diet pepsi without having to de fuzz it.

I haven't even walked into a clothing store to loom for clothes for me. I'm actually fitting into my old clothes. I don't think I can even start looking for new clothes without feeling overwhelmed as well. Its scary...

And I haven't even tried drinking a diet coke! I'm scared to! But I'm dying for a diet dr. pepper!

Its the little things in life I miss. Sometimes I feel depressed, then happy, then mad.... Talk about mood swings! Lol

I'm doing pretty well. Down 44lbs and starting to comfortably get into my next size down clothes. I'm wearing a dress today I haven't worn for at least 4 years. I'm not going to bother shopping until I drop a few more sizes. I have enough clothes through size 14.

I've been a total slacker when it comes to exercise! Baaaad girl. I need to get my fanny back on the treadmill and dug up my five factor fitness book that has a six day exercise program included. It's pretty simple- three exercises per day in addition to cardio. I need to get inspried! My giggly belly and arms should be enough to inspire me...

Not drinking with my food is sooo hard and getting in all the Vitamins and meds - I feel like I need a schedule: 7am- thyroid, 7:15-7:30 - coffee, 7:45 - yogurt, 8:15 - start drinking a 20 oz drink, 8:45 - actigall #1 for the day. I can't keep track half the time!

I've had some moody days too - days when I just want to crawl up and read all day. Thank goodness my mom takes my son quite often on Saturday so I get a day to just be alone.

Overall, doing pretty well and very happy I made this choice for myself. Best thing I've done other than have my son and have lasic surgery! =)

Congrats on the weight loss, every pound is one pound closer to your goal! I'm down 26 lbs, since January 23rd, slow, but still better than I could do on my own. I'm very happy with it. I've had some Hair loss and was told that it is from not enough Protein. I have trouble getting the 60-70gms per day.

No Hair loss. I hit Onederland and size 16 last weekend. I celebrated by going to Disneyland!

I was sleeved on 01/30 and I've been in a stall for two weeks now. 38 pounds lost total. I haven't found my Vitamins yet, but I take Vitamin B-12 and Omeprozole every morning. It helps a lot.

I am glad to hear everyone is doing great and I think we are all enjoying our new sleeve. I have lost 24.6 lbs. since my surgery on 1/30. I do not eat near enough Protein (or near enoughof anything for that matter. I cannot believe the difference in my attitude and personality already. I just feel like a different person. I am 3 lbs away from ONE-derland!

I have not experienced any Hair loss but did start taking 5000mg of Biotin last week. My daughter came home from college for spring break and her hair was considerably longer than it had been. She said she had been taking biotin. She had a $4 bottle of it from Walmart.

I too have gotten discouraged with what I think sometimes is slow weight loss compared to others. But I think from reading more, we are the norm with losing around 18-25 at this lengthof time after our surgery. Honestly, I have stopped signing onto this site as often for that very reason because I figured out it was causing me to doubt my progress reading others that have had more. Also, it seems like sometimes when someone posts about struggling with past behaviors or wanting to drink a coke or have something that they have been craving then there are people who "jump" on them and tell them they have never messed up and how great they are doing. I am happy for them that are doing so well, but I still have the head hunger and I also still have very real cravings for a coke zero. I haven't given in to that urge but I also cannot guarantee that I will never drink it again. We are all different and should treat this journey as our own. Of course the support has been wonderful on here and I am so thankful for this board. We are all doing great!

don't get too hung up on the numbers. I was sleeved on 1/24 and I've lost 45 pounds since then, but I also weighed almost twice as much as you when I started...

So if you've lost 25 lbs, that puts you at around 11% loss, and me losing 45 puts me at about 12% loss. It gets even more complicated when you talk about % loss of EXCESS body fat (which is really the number we SHOULD be caring about.)

So the number of lbs lost you see from other people can be extremely deceiving if you're trying to compare yourself to others. It's better just to use it as a personal tool to make sure you're on the right track.

No Hair loss yet, but I've kept my Protein up since surgery. I was actually getting 80 grams in for the first two weeks after surgery (with help of the clear Isopure). Now I average around 60 - not bad, but I should be above 70.

So it's Friday and Trader Joe's has this flounder stuffed with crab meat. There are 35 grams of protein in the whole serving. I'm eating half of it for lunch and half for dinner with a bit of a Greek yogurt topped baked potato. Yeah, white potato isn't the best, but as long as I stay under 40 grams of carbs I am just fine. The Greek yogurt ups the protein considerably.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
