Omg!...frustrated! Neverending Stall....

Recommended Posts

I guess I just need to vent!!! mad5.gif

Today I'm officially one month out. A week ago, I hit the dreaded week 3 stall which has now turned into a week 4 stall. I'm so over it!!! I've tried to stay off the scale, but it's hard!!! I'm doing everything I'm supposed to do: 100+ grams of protein/day, a good 60 oz. of water/fluids and I'm hiking up hill 3 miles/day (which I was doing for the 2 months prior to surgery and I started back up at 2 weeks).

Please, tell me this stall is gonna end and that it's not possible to stay stuck here. I'm trying to stay positive about the fact that I've lost 25 lbs since surgery and 52 total.....I know, I should be thrilled, right?!?!?!?

You're doing better than I! I'm 6 weeks out and have only lost 11 pounds! Like you, I am doing everything they tell me to do. It is very frustrating!

Same here . I am 4 weeks out. Had one stall, then went down pretty quick and now stalled again.

I am okay with it , if it works like last time ..I would like the losing to start anytime now.

I am down 25 between pre-op and post -op.

Ladies, Ease up on yourselves. Everyone loses at a different rate, and stalls ARE frustrating. But, have you lost inches? Are your clothes looser? Those stalls happen because our bodies are adjusting themselves to our changed eating habits and to our increased exercise habits.

When you are not losing pounds on the scale, you really need to be looking at the NSVs (Non scale Victories). While I was stalled just under 300 pounds for a couple of weeks, I lost all my pants. They simply got too big and I shrank right out of them! I went down two sizes during that stall. I also had to adjust my car seat and how I sit to drive. I'd been used to sitting as far to the left as possible so the seat belt didn't dig into my butt. Now I'm sitting in the middle and that seat belt doesn't bother me at all!

So, while I was stalled at 298, I lost several inches off my hips and waist. Go Me!!!

Stalls happen because our bodies have to readjust and keep up with the rapid weight loss we experience after being sleeved. WE have to keep looking for the positives rather than worrying so hard about the scale.

Oh, and take a good long look at your tush, Lisa. I'm betting all that walking is making your legs and butt look better because you're building muscle. Muscle, for a fact, does weigh more than fat.

Good luck to you both. Once my last stall broke, I've dropped 10 pounds in no time. You ladies have barely started seeing the results you hoped to have. It WILL happen!

Thanks Lissa for the pep talk... I am in the same boat with the stall. Sleeved on 11/14 lost 20lbs quickly, but nothing for the last 10 days!!! Ugh... I go back to work on Tuesday & I want be out of the 190's.

Gonna try to up the Protein & Water to see if that helps.

I wonder whether y'all's eating habits has changed since pre-surgery? Like, are you consistently getting more Protein and nutrients then before? I know I sure am. Maybe during those stalls our bodies are working on rebuilding tissues and fibers that were dormant or malnourished for so long from chronically low levels of Vitamins and Protein.< /p>

Shh, let's secretly replace one of Lisa's fat cells for a muscle cell and see if she notices... ;-)

I know it's not really like that (you don't actually lose fat cells, they just shrink) but it's a funny thought.

It happens. I stalled out for 3 weeks. I mean nothing on the scale or measuring tape. Try and stay positive. It has to end eventually.

Ok, I'm starting to freak out a little... my surgery date is 12/27 and I'm seriously wondering if I should back out? If I only lost a little bit of weight after surgery I'd be beyond frustrated, too :(

Thanks Lissa!! I guess I really do need to take inventory on the NSV's: my pants are fitting looser, I'm back to walking at a higher intensity than pre surgery, my wedding ring doesn't fit anymore and since going back to work this week, EVERYONE is noticing my weight loss!!! I guess it's time to stop "shoulding" on myself especially since I refused to set a weight goal and monitor my success based on how I feel!!!! This is why I hate the scale...it really messes with my head!!!

Hang in there everyone....we'll get there (wherever there is LOL)!!!!!!

NO!!!!!! Don't back out! Stalls are common. Some lose weight faster than others. But if I am taking in 400-800 calories a day, I will lose weight. Mine is slow right now. it is frustrating. But I don't regret having my surgery for one tiny second!!

I KNOW the weight will come off. It has to.....

So don't let our talk about stalls, make you change your mind about a surgery that will change your life for the BETTER!

We're talking STALLS. Not STOPPING weight loss! smile.png Stalls are temporary!

It's stressful and scary right before surgery!! No doubt! But you'll do fine!!

Just remember everyone is different. And depending on how overweight you are, you'll lose weight differently than anyone else. We cannot compare ourselves!! I'm as guilty as anyone else and I get frustrated as well!!

But yesterday I posted that I was frustrated because I had only lost 10 pounds since my surgery on Oct 25th. Well, today I weigh myself and I dropped 3 pounds since yesterday! So for me, I think I just need to figure out how my body is losing the weight. So far it seems like every 2 weeks, I drop 3-4 pounds....

Anyway, I am doing the happy dance this morning!!

It WILL COME OFF EVERYONE! If you're doing what your doctors tell you to do!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
