Canceled 3 Hrs Before Gastric Sleeve Surgery!

Lets see where to begin. I started my Medical Supervised Nutritional Visits in Jan. 2011. After completing my 3 months we submitted the paperwork to my Ins. I then received a letter of denial because the program was changed from 3 months to 6 months. So back to the doctors I went. Then after completing another 3 months we submitted again. Then I get denial letter #2 stating that I was denied because the months where not consecutive. So I appealed. Many weeks later I get another letter of denial. This time denying my HUSBAND who has NEVER submitted anything for surgery!! So I called my Ins and after many weeks I get a response... APPROVED!!! Yay!! So now I am scheduled for surgery on Dec. 5th! Okay so I get all the necessary thing in order. I wake up the morning of the surgery, jump in the shower when my phone begins to ring. And yup you guessed it! It's my surgeons office calling to let me know that my surgery has been cancelled 3hrs before my surgery because my doctor is ill!!! In the famous words of Charlie Brown "AAAAARRRRRGGGGGHHHH!!" banghead.gifNow it looks like I might have to wait 2 more weeks!!! I am trying really hard not to lose it but I don't know how much more I can take! I've been scheduled for surgery 3 different times! And this time they even let it get to the surgery date before they pulled the rug out from under me!! God give me patience or Satan give me a bat!!!

I'm sorry this happened to you. I am a firm believer in thing happen for a reason, we just don't know the reason when the "stuff" happens to us. You get to enjoy the holidays, you get 2 more weeks to lose weight pre-op, your surgeon will feel much better when he does the surgery.

Years ago, I was having a laparoscopy procedure to remove scar tissue that had formed after my hysterectomy. I was in the room where they set the IV prior to surgery when my surgeon's nurse came in and told the anesthesiologist there was a delay. They sent me up to a recovery room to wait. Since they had already given me something to relax, I fell asleep - and so did my husband. About an hour or so later, the nurse from my surgeon (OB/GYN) came by and told me the procedure had been cancelled, I would have to reschedule. I was PO'd to put it mildly. After getting dressed, I charged down to the doc's office in the hospital, planning on letting them have a piece of my mind about the poor treatment! Well, my doc had been preparing for my surgery, and had had a "cardiac event" and was currently in the cardiac care unit of the hospital. Needless to say, my anger turned into concern for my doc (who I really like). I rescheduled the appointment for a month later (I wanted him WELL). I teased him when I saw him after my surgery - thanking him for not keeling over when he was lazering my insides.

Hang in there, and good luck with your sleeve.

So very sorry. I know what your going thru. My girlfriends have had the surgery, and everything went so smooth for them, and I decide to have it, and it's been two yrs in the making, that should give you some idea of what I've gone thru. My date is 12/12 and I think, I'm turning the phone off. lol Best wishes to you. purplebananna.gif

I believe everything will be fine.. Heck, you've had your bout w/ surgery day jitters... You'll do great.. it WILL happen!!!

You have to be one strong person to still be sane after all of that! You will appreciate this amazing surgery even more after all the waiting...praying for patience for you!! Angel_anim.gif

Oh my goodness! You win!! That is crazy! But you are so right, good thing it didn't happen during the procedure. Glad to hear it all went well. biggrin.png

Thanks all for letting me vent and for all the encouraging words. I feel much better now. I've come to far to just give up! Now I want it even more! tongue.png

Hang in there! It is so worth whatever the wait or cancellations. I can definitely understand your frustration but as you've probably seen many times on this forum, most love their sleeve and I'm one of those people. I absolutely love my sleeve! In fact I was blogging about how much I love my sleeve today! And you will love yours, too! Keep smiling! Hugs! hug.gif
