Hi,

I will be sleeved on Dec. 13. I have been reading about Hair loss and have a question. Do you lose more than the hair on your head? I am just trying to prepare myself mentally!

I am 3 1/2 months out and I have severe Hair loss. But the hair on my arms and other parts of my body have not changed!

I don't have much hair on other parts of my body, so I cant say much about that, the the head lost about 30%... its now growing back.

Just an idea, but my hair dresser and a couple other post VSG people told me that I needed to start taking the following as soon as I got a surgery date. Taking BEFORE helps considerable and starting back as soon as your dor allows you to swallow pills again. I am taking Biotin 5,000 mg at least once a day, Silica at lease once a day sometimes twice (both are for hair, skin and nails and will not only help support Hair growth /loss but will help your skin and assist with the wrinkles and sagginess that comes from rapid weight loss- Now you will still need cardio and weight training but this helps)

Oh and I am also taking multi vit and vit B daily. as well as BPX which is a circulatory health proprietary blend of herbs. You might ck with your dr or nutritionist to make sure they don't have a better idea suited just for you, but thanks to my medical knowledge and several friends (Not to mention the lady at the Vitamin store) I think i am getting a good start on it.

@ Medicprincess are you taking all those supplements separatley? I was thinking of looking into a prenatal Vitamin, My hair grew like crazy while I was on them.

I have had severe hair loss despite taking biotion, flax seed, a Multivitamin and B comples for 3 months before my surgery. I didnt have much hair to begin with due to hypothryroid and a hysterectomy. It is really thin and still falling out. Sigh.. hair everywhere else seems to be healthy and growing... no free brazilians here. :leaving: I am hoping someone can assure me that at least some of it will come back in. I guess it is an individual thing. Some people experience this and some get away without it.

I'm not very hairy at all and was only shaving my legs twice a year pre surgery, but I do seem to have less hair on other areas.

Medicprincess, Do you take Biotin 5,000mcg or mg? I take biotin 5mg and am thinking I need to take more. thank you
