Using Actigal/Ursodiol and hair loss????

I am 2 weeks post op, for some reason I didn't get the actigal or the generic ursodiol prescription when I left the hospital. I had my 2 week check up with the doc yesterday and asked him about it. I was suppose to get the Rx and didn't.

I went yesterday and filled it, while reading the info on the drug ursodiol which is generic actigal I read that one of the side effects is

......."hair LOSS"

Ok.. could part of OUR hairloss also be from these drugs??? I know that surgery/rapid weight loss can cause hair loss, but we are suppose to take this medicine for 6 months.. that is about the time line that most folks lose so much hair..

Now that I've ranted.. can some of you veterans come in and say something? I really, really don't want to lose what little hair I have.

Everyone is totally different, it's an answer you'll hear often but true. I didn't lose any hair at all and al taking ursodial. Last month in taking them tho, surgeon said no more after 6th month and I'm on my 5th as we speak. Hope this helps.

so sorry for the ignorance, but what is this medication for, and how long do you have to take it after? Does everyone take it?

Never mind....LOL. Sorry, figured it out. Gallstones.

I took it 6 months. Kaiser Fremont recommended 3 months, but I was still losing pretty rapidly at 3 months, so I just finished out the prescription, which worked out to 6 months. My hair is a little thinner, but not much. I am still wearing the same style and it doesn't look different. But I have noticed a little more hair coming out in the brush and shower.
