Feeling pretty low

Hi Eveyone,

I'm feeling pretty pathetic tonight. I've discovered that I can eat WAY more than I should. I've been inhaling about 1400 calories per day. The scale hasn't moved in about 8 days and I feel like giving up. I've been walking some in the evening but this is what always happens to me. I get really excited about a new diet, give it all I've got for about 2-3 months, then sink back into my old ways of eating and being lazy. I'm becoming afraid that the sleeve was just another diet for me. And I FEEL HUNGER. I'm not one of the lucky ones who does not feel hunger.

I need some encouragement to get back on track. If I start eating the right things again (Protein first), will I feel the restriction again?

It also doesn't help that I've lost most of my hair so I'm feeling pretty fugly. I tried finding a support group in my area but there are none. I want to hear from people who have been where I am.

Thanks.

OH... and I'm still going to do the Thanksgiving Challenge... I guess I just need some encouragement.

Yes, if you start putting the right foods in your body, your body will respond.

Are you on acid reducer/PPI?

If you have health insurance, look for a counselor and therapist to help with the food issues. I hate support groups so they aren't always the answer. I think they are more enabling than anything, and honestly, think that many people just go to be told that it's "okay" they're not gaining weight etc etc. Well, that's just not the case.

My recommendation is to cut carbs, set a meal plan, and stick to it. Yes, I realize if it were that easy, you'd be doing it, but you have to start somewhere. Start tracking your foods on myfitnesspal.com and start being accountable for what you put in your mouth.

hair loss is part of it, but getting in your Protein, Vitamins and nutrients will help regrowth.

Don't give up! I believe too that the restriction is there if you go back to Protein first! You can do it! Come help me along now that my world might be a little more normal food wise!! My NUT tells me I need to be at 1000 calories so you aren't way off - you can do it!

You sound a lot like me. I usually do the same thing - 2-3 months I go strong on a diet/exercise plan and then it's like flipping a switch and I go back to my old habits. We were probably sleeved around the same time - mid August - so it is right in the 2-3 month zone right now. I do find that I am more tempted to eat things I shouldn't but I keep reminding myself of what I went through with the surgery and how this is a second chance to do things right. I also was at a stall for this whole week and when that happens for me it almost makes me feel like "why bother?". I woke up this morning and finally broke the stall which has given me the motivation to keep on plugging away. I agree with Tiffy about checking on the PPI and also maybe seeing a therapist to deal with the food issues - we all have them or we wouldn't be in this boat!

Good luck and keep your chin up - you CAN do this!!! :)

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
