October 25th--A day I will never forget!

Recommended Posts

I met my surgeon today for the final time. I wanted surgery on Oct 31st or November 1st. He had an opening on October 25th for me. I took it. I am just a roller coaster of emotions!!!!! I am excited, scared and praying I made the right decision!!!!

Most of us felt the exact same way. I will tell you though, that it is an adjustment, but I love my sleeve! It is a wonderful tool and helping me accomplish things that I never could on my own. I am only a little over a month out and I feel so much healthier! The first couple days after surgery, I just kept remembering all the postings on here from others saying that they questioned their decision at first, but then a few months later they write about how great they feel and their only regret is not doing it sooner. The first couple of days after surgery are a little rough, remember to WALK as much as possible, it really does help alot, as well as a heating pad. You may feel like it's going to be a long recovery, but something happens around day 4 or 5 and you wont believe how much better you feel.

Best of luck to you and lean on the people on this forum for support, they are truly wonderful!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
