Ok people, so the pain In the left shoulder, collarbone, side of neck is true with gas in hiccuping n burping. It happens after I take a nap on top of a snack/meal. So maybe waking after a snack is best n drinking super slow once u wake up can avoid this feeling n tightness. It's good my first yogurt lunch was good in my belly ;0) sipping now. The pain was heavy on right side when I woke up from my nap just now so day 6 n pain meds r needed for me but I'm trying to take less. I will walk now before the evening. I hope u all r doing great!!! Xoxo

IS THIS ENOUGH INTAKE IN A DAY FOR POST OP liquid diet?

48 grams Protein, 280 calories, 11carbs

This is from Vitamins, a Protein Drink, yogurt, and a Popsicle. I had two small bottles of h2o also.

so ive read everything & i can honestly say that i am still excited. maybe a little nervous? but excited! i have a friend who i call my sleeve sister. she had the surgery oct 18th & with the same dr and same hospital. thankfully, i have no hospital worries. im not worried about pain because i know every up has a down! i know the pain wont last forever and ive had my gall bladder removed. i think this will hurt a little more but my gall bladder removal wasnt THAT BAD! i think i milked as much attention as i could get from my nurses & loved ones!! i mean hey, who doesnt like being catered to? lol. so after seeing my sleeve sister, im not really worried! my biggest fears are:

1. not waking up.

2. complications.

3. not making it home for christmas (i am HOPEFULLY getting sleeved on dec 20th).

4. too much extra skin (after losing the weight)

so i think im ready! so my surgeon can bring on the pain....... WITH THE MORPHINE plz! LOL!!!

1. U will wake up (it was my fear, too)

2. Sounds like your surgeon hasn't caused previous complications

3. U should make it home by the 23rd latest since you WON'T have complications. They wouldn't even let me stay a third day even though I wanted to.

4. Worry bout the skin when u get to that point n focus on health for now, which is most important. That's my plan.

I'm excited for u!!! Nervous is normal!! Hugs!!!

Thank u. It's 4am n I've been in bad pain All night in right side like stitches r stretching feeling inside n pulling pain. I'm wondering if it's gas or I drank too fast. I added in another 1/2 Protein drink to the above amnt I listed above that I had because I felt I did not get enough nutrients in last night, and honestly I was very hungry.

Right now I Just took a sip if Water n have extreme headache sore neck n naseousness. This happens everytime i wake up n I took a anti nausea pill n am sitting drinking a bit.

Took temp n am ok. I take my temp twice a day just to check.

I'm debating whether to take a pain med now or not. Anyhow, I was awake n thought I'd write my nighttime journey. Hugs

I forgot to mention my journey outside the home yesterday. One hour waa plenty. I went to the market and for a car ride as the passenger. I put a fluffy towel under seatbelt. Felt nauseous from the entire car ride n bumps caused gas but I was really thirtsty on the trip n drank a lot n even I'm market drank a lot. The market was a challenge to see n snell the foods but I focused on finding the yogurt only and a flow plant to cheer up my room. I feel that during walking the pain dissaoears but I am weak n sometimes dizzy but after walking that's when the body aches come for me. I live on the second floor where I'm staying currently (when I go home in a wk I'll b on third floor), so I've Been going up n down quite a lot n walking with dogs in backyard. I try to do that 2-3 times a day with naps in between. Hugs!!

from the TONS of research ive done, ive read that all the pain is gas & hunger feelings are gas as well. walking relieves the gas. when laying in bed, put pillows under you to keep your upoer body slightly elevated. this should help with the gas a little. whenever you feel pain, get up and walk. even if its to the bathroom & back. u may feel nausea because of the meds & because u r no longer taking in as many carbs! ur body is using fat for energy instead of carbs! i pray u get better soon!

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
