Where to start......I have been banded since 7/22/03. I have lost 40 pounds so far. I had several issues after I was banded. I was drinking and eating. Eating fast food all the time! Well I slowly but surley got over it.

I am now up to 3.4cc's. I was adjusted about 3 weeks ago and have only lost 4 pounds. I know this sounds silly, but I don't drink Water that much at all. The last time I challenged myself to the 8 glasses, I lost all of my restriction. I was so afraid that I had ruined my band. Well the next morning, I realized that it was temporary. Well I think I am an obsessive eater, so I don't ever want to loose restriction again. I am afraid that I may eat things that I shouldn't. I really don't exercise at all. (I can imagine what you all are thinking).

As of now, I barely eat and my hair is shedding more than ever. I guess I am confused! Even if the weightloss is slow because of my behaviour, I can understand that, but I should at least be loosing 1 pound a week.

The summer is coming and I feel as though I should be at my goal weight by now. I am happy, but I just feel like I am going to fall in the precentile that doesn't loose that much weight. I am scared. I need some opinions. Should I get adjusted again? What can I do to boost my metabolism? I am really lost as to what to do.

Thanks for listening(reading)

Birdee -

I am sorry you are struggling. However, you really, really must drink your water! Water is what helps flush the fat from the cells and carries the waste of weightloss away, away, away.

It could have been a coincidence that you felt less restricted when you were hydrated - restriction does fluctuate for most of us.

Sounds like it is time for you to get back to the basics so you can figure out what's really going on.

Track on www.fitday.com what you eat in a regular day for a couple of days, so you can have a realistic view of how many calories, and the types of calories you're consuming.

Exercise does not have to be a big formal deal - make a deal with yourself to walk around the block once a day. Don't NOT do it because "That doesn't seem like very much - hardly worth doing." Just move - even a little bit. Once you get out there, maybe you'll decide to make it two or three times around, but you're only committed to doing once.

Try and get your Water in so your body has a way to flush out the byproducts of weightloss.

Eat your Protein first, and then your veggies. Have as many veggies as you want to feel full.

Stay away from the hyglycemic carbs, like white bread, potatos and white rice.

Get a decent amount of sleep.

Find ways to entertain yourself that do not involve food.

Good luck, and hang in there. You're still down 40 pounds!!! Try lifting 40 pounds, and you'll feel like you've accomplished more.

Drink lots!!!...at first it might seem like you lost restriction but after it becomes a habit you will seem full.I make sure i drink a HUGE glass right before leaving work so i can make it home without the rumblies.

And the Protein, veggies first is an EXCELLENT rule.

You have to eat good food to lose weight.

You also have to exercise to boost your metabolism but i think you already know this.

The band will wait for you ALWAYS

Birdee,

I totally feel you on the drinking enough Water and not feeling as restricted...I too have been in the same boat so to speak...

It can be a slippery slope because if you don't drink enough then you feel tighter but if you do you feel looser...I'm drinking my Water now and alot less restricted so I'm getting a fill tomorrow...but I have to keep drinking my water or I'm going to be way too tight...so...keep on drinking your water...it's good for you...and maybe get a teensy more fill...

THANKS!!! I have already acted on the first suggestion! FITDAY! I'll start on the Water and walking tomorrow. I guess I struggle with the band being internal, not being able to see it and look at it to be sure it's working. Kinda strange I know!

Thanks again!

Birdee

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
