The Sleeve That Almost Wasn't...Was!

Recommended Posts

Well, I was sleeved last Thursday. My tummy and sleevey have been at odds pretty much since. The only thing sleevey likes is popsicles, Water, and Jello.

Any suggestions for that? I'm supposed to be on full liquids and have no idea what to try to introduce sleevey to.

Anyway, glad I took the plunge, it has already inspired the hubby to throw out all junk food and start going to the gym, so my whole family will be getting healthy with me YAY!!

I do have one small question, I have been on an anti nausea med that has caused my vision to blur, has anyone else experienced this? I have to wear my reading glasses all the time now to see anything clearly.

Thanks.

Oh, oh, oh, I have already gone from 251 to 226. YAY!!

Congrats!! It sounds like your sleeve is working for you. I can't help with the anti-nauseua med because I haven't needed that. I'm at two weeks post op and I did full liquids with cottage cheese, yogurt, SF pudding, and broth. Your doc may have given you different instructions. I was also allowed some lower sugar fruit juice (4 oz daily) mixed half and half with Water, along with SF drinks, including Special K Protein Water, which has 5g of Protein. Oh, and Protein shakes galore!

Your sleevie is still tender, which is why it's so hard to get stuff down. Mine kept me guessing about when I was full because I'd have shoulder pain whenever I ate or drank for a few days. Walking helped with that, tremendously. I'm still on instructions to worry about drinking more than eating, but to try to get my protein in daily. Since I can count the ounces in my Protein shake in with my liquids, that helps some with both goals.

Good luck, it will get better, and quickly!! :)

I remember that, week. Not like it was too long ago for me lol. However, I was allowed to have cream Soups, strained ofcourse. So my mother in law made me cream of mushroom Soup and strained all the mushrooms out. You can have any kind, as long as it is strained. I must say, it was the best thing ever. It went down easy, coats the stomach, and was soooo yummy. Hope this helps. :)

Do you have Isopure or anything like that? The Syntrex nectar drinks are good too. I think they have 25 grams of Protein and come in lots of flavors.

Look on the food forum for the place to order samples of Protein Drinks,

The Isopure and Nectar are thin for the early stages and there are tons more for later on.

I found that everything bothered my tummy in the beginning. Lots of trial and error there--- You can try:

- milk

- kefir or liquid yogurt

- strained cream Soups

- add milk to the usual Protein drinks

You're doing great!!!!!!!!!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
