Walk From Obesity...

Recommended Posts

Any of you DFW bandsters participating in the Walk From Obesity on September 30th? Check out their website...seems to be alot like Race for the Cure. There is one in Dallas and it looks like Baylor is the local sponsor. I will be there with the lap band coordinator from the hospital. I would love to see y'all there, maybe even walk as a group of LBT'ers. It should be great for walking in September and this will be an easy, fun way to get some exercise in!

Divanita2006, I'm so glad your'e interested and it's great to see that others have signed up in their state. I just registered @ www.walkfromobesity.com. The cost is $25.00 and you get a free t-shirt. I'll be attending my first support group meeting on Tuesday and I hope to get more people interested. I feel that it's our responsibility as bandsters to support and participate these types of events. Let me know if you need any other info :-) PS All of the walks are on September 30 and when you log on to the site, you'll see how many cities nationwide are participating.

Tricia, Tammy that is great I would be proud to walk with you but Shreveport is closer for me. I will be thinking about all the bandsters who may be walking and the ones who can't walk but want to sponsor some one to walk for them.

I love it! This is a national health crisis and the idea of raising money for research appeals to me as an overweight woman as well as a nurse.

I'm in.

Do we form a team like "relay for life" or will we simply choose a place to meet and then walk together?

Hi there!

I will be walking with the lap band coordinator from my hospital...not sure if we'll have anyone else with us. Since we have to pick up our shirts, why don't we meet either there or close to the sign in area, if they are seperate? Let me know what you think...I hope there are several of us there :-) The weather looks like it's going to be wonderful!!!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?
