Day of Surgery weight was 363, I am 5'1" and lost approximately 20 lbs in the first month after surgery. My stall, I guess if you can call it t hat, was at the 3/4/5 week mark.

Highest band surgery day weight -270lbs (Oct 2008)

Revision to VSG surgery day weight -263lbs(June 2009)

Goal weight - 150lbs achieved in 6.5 months post VSG

Maintenance weight 125-130lbs ( achieved at 10.5 months)

Maintained my loss for about a year until pregnancy weight crept in and at 8 months pregnant, I've gained 23-25lbs.

Total loss with 140-145lbs (I allow a 5lb bounce in maintenance)

I'm 5'2" tall. I never experienced a true stall. I lost every week. Some weeks, I'd only lose 1lb and other weeks I'd lose 7lbs. The closest I got to a true stall (stall= no loss on the scale or loss of inches for a minimum of 14 days) was when I was in a few pounds close of hitting my goal weight, and I think I went 10 days with zero loss on the scale then dropped several pounds to get me to goal.

Hey Tiff, your results have been fantastic. When you switched to the sleeve, did you count carbs/protein/calories everyday? How about exercise? I feel like I have to change up my routine every week or so (diet and exercise) so that my body keeps losing. But I really only lose just after my period starts and then I hover for another month. :P

Pre-Op Testing Weight (Highest) (7/12/11): 264

Surgery Day (7/20/11): 251

One month out: 231

Current Weight: 227

Goal Weight: 145

EWL: 30.5%

I guess I haven't stalled (if a genuine stall is 14 days or more) but some weeks are definitely slower than others. Week 3 I gained .4 and week 6 I stayed the same... but those are the closest to stalls I've had.

I counted everything that went in my mouth.

My daily regimen/program was:

600-800 calories

60+gr of Protein

No more than 30-40gr of carbs (that is ALL carbs, healthy or not, it got counted, and I even counted the carbs in my multi-vitamin) Most of my carbs came from the dairy I consumed. I did not eat anything white (flour sugar) during my losing stage. And, didn't (and still do not) eat fruit. I wasn't a big fruit eater pre-op, and that hasn't changed.

640z+ clear fluids

I didn't exercise for the first 4 months due to an extensive recovery with my revision complications. When I did start working out, I had already dropped around 80lbs, and focused on isolated weight training (different parts of my body: back/shoulders/chest, hams/quads/butt, abs/core and then extremities) and one day of cardio via Hip Hop Abs.

I ate 4 meals per day. Each meal consisted of 15gr of Protein at a minimum. No Snacks, no Protein drinks, just those 4 meals, and drinking fluids in between.

starting weight: 280

weight lost during 3.5 week pre-op diet: 25 lbs.

weight on day of surgery: 255

1st two weeks post-op I lost: 10 lbs.

Then I stalled for almost 4 weeks.

When I started losing again, I lost another 15 lbs. in 1.5 weeks.

Then I stalled again for 2-3 weeks.

Then I dropped 5 lbs.

That was back around 8/26. I know I'm losing inches because my clothes are fitting different but the scale doesn't like me at all. I'm not horribly upset about it because my 3 month goal was 35% of my excess weight which would have been 52.5 lbs. I still have about 2 weeks before I hit 3 months and I've already lost 55 lbs.

Tiff, I've printed out what you said you're doing and I'm going to try to do that. I had been writing everything down but then stopped about a month or so ago. I'm very careful about what goes into my mouth but I couldn't say exactly how much Protein, carbs, and calories I'm taking in and I feel extremely guilty for that. I'm afraid that a lot of days, I'm barely getting 600 calories because I'm just hardly ever hungry. My body probably thinks I'm starving. :(

My starting weight was 234.

I am 5'4" tall

Surgery day after one week preop I was 225.

I am almost 5 weeks post op and today I weighed 208.9.

Total weight loss of 25 pounds at one month out give or take a few days.

* I was hospitalized again for a kidney stone at 2 weeks out and was pumped full of fluids.. gained all the weight back and came home weighing 236! I had to loose it all again but it was only Water. I had surgery to place a stent and then had it removed yesterday. I am on the road to recovery from kidney problems and I am feeling pretty good today! I think 25 pounds is awesome considering what I have been through!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
