Weight Gained Since Having Gastric Sleeve Surgery

  • Popular Post

HI Y'all,

I wanted to do some research with REAL people instead of reading about it in some report.

I'm wondering how much weight (IF ANY) you have gained since being sleeved. I go up between 1-3 lbs. so my answer would be 1-5 lbs.

I'm curious to see how this goes.

Thanks!

Question for all the Post-opers.... First couple months I can imagine your dropping a lot and adjusting to your new tummy. What happens after say 9, 10 12 months? Is your appetite exactly the same as before? This is all assuming you've been following the food guidlines and didn't stretch your stomach out etc....

I didn't get fat from eating the healthy food that I eat and ate when I was fat. I got fat because I constantly drank Dr. Pepper and ate chips, candy, cookies, and cake anytime I wanted to. I tried to diet, and actually did well on Atkins several times. But the junk food always found it's way back into my life.

The sleeve changed this for me because of that hunger hormone that was removed. I eat now when I am hungry, but I can only eat one piece of pizza, not half a pizza. I don't buy chips and junk food, but when I'm around it, I eat it and I gain weight. Even if you have a sleeve, it still takes tons of willpower to say no to fattening junk food. It's a balancing act and it always will be.

I have always said i am eating only good healthy food. BUT U HAVE TO STOP EATING ALL OF IT. That habit respects no restrictions and i doubt i will ever forget to eat.

Right now had 3 year follow up and weight is 4lbs up from last year. They were not upset about it and thought i am doin well. Next fri will see if i have a polyp in my throat. Am freaking out abt that. The thing thats there is responding to atavan! Weight was 195.6 this a.m.

Thats scary. Did they do a egd? Why do you think you have a polup in your throat? Prayers sent your way.

What is EGD? i feel like i have to swallow something or cough up a hairball! But nothing gives. I am kinda bummed out about lifen the universe and everything

I had that same problem, turns out I have hashimotos which is a thyroid problem and makes throat swell, I felt like I had a hairball too!!!! Have they done bloodwork? I think I said that wrong I meant endoscopy where they look down your throat?

Thanks for sharing. How is it controlled? Are u ok now? How long did it take to dx? No tests yet. Just rx'd qith cytomel. Will see ENT on 27tg

I wish I has the results you guys have had. I had my surgery aug. 2011. I have gained almost half my weight back and feeling really depressed about it. The doctor said that my body is in starvation mode because I don't eat enough protien. But some just makes my stomach hurt. I have also developed a hietal hernia. Ugh makes some food really hard to go down. I'm hoping I can find help here.

Scurry, can we physically talk?

Scurry

...what ARE u eating? I dont understand how u can be in starvation mode and gain. Can u cut out everything e xcept protein for a week?

Yes. We all have that same directive. What ARE u actually eating instead?

He wants me to get 84 grams of protien a day and I'm having difficulty getting that.

I'm 14 months out and I've had a 24-32oz smoothie with 30-40g Protein every day since surgery. Throw in a Quest bar and that's 50-60g protein before I've even eaten one meal.

You say you're in starvation mode? How many calories are you getting and what exactly are you eating? Are you nauseous? Vomiting? Experiencing pain? Intolerant of certain foods? What's preventing you from getting in your protein?
