Hi,

I am at 7 months out and am dealing with food issues - "head hunger" ... I feel like I am in a rut with my food choices and would like input or advise from others.

I keep my calories between 1000 - 1200 and carbs under 45....

My meals are all pretty much the same, my tummy cant handle much in the morning so I do an EAS low carb premix shake, mid morning snack Atkins Peanut Butter protien bar. Lunch: 1/4 cup fat free cottage cheese and 1/4 cup of either chunk chicken or imitation seafood. afternoon snack - beef jerkey or protien bar evening dinner is either a salad or 1/2 cup of chicken/turkey/seafood. SF popcycles & SF fudgecycles are a staple at night! I rely heavily on crystal light and flavored water.. some days I get more than 64 oz and some days if I am super busy at work I struggle to get my Water intake in.... I know I need to work on making sure I have my 64+ Fluid a day.

Any advise from others that could help me along more? I cant do yogart...just cant get past any of the tastes and cheese has a bad effect on me!

Thanks for any advise you can offer...:D

Althought I have not been sleeved yet. I was VERY creative with my band post op diet- I had a hard time too getting in Protein and liquid and for a while was on the "wrong" liquid to fill up- I switched up my protein powder- and got a variety of different ones to add to either ensure or boost- Some days yogurt was ok others it made me gag- I used it often in smoothies- adds calories (good ones and good protein too) and the consistency is masked.

I don't know if it helps or not but good luck- Also are you working out or anything to do aerobically?? I know when I switched from walking to zumba and then did walking and zumba it really helped just changing up things for a few days.. sort of tricking your body/mind....Good luck!

I'm between 3 and 4 months out - don't do much of the Protein bars/shakes - only if I'm really stuck do I use those as a backup. I've been trying to do 'real food' which does give some more variety. Not sure if that's good or not, but I think I'd get bored quickly with the same few things. Some ideas on what I've been eating...

- 1/2 toasted english muffin with Peanut Butter

- scrambled egg with one slice of bacon each morning (sometimes with veggies in it)

- slice of meatloaf with mashed potatoes or creamed spinach

- turkey meatballs

- lox (smoked salmon) with some crackers

- cheese and wheat thins

- grilled cheese on whole wheat

- 1/2 burger (or small slider) on toasted bun with some ketchup

- sliced turkey rolled up with some cheese

- wheat thins with peanut butter

- grilled chicken thighs with lemon pepper seasoning

There are some other things but these are the ones I have most often... hope this helps.

Hi!

I am curious how the carbs are for you? I have not yet had any bread, rolls or buns....havent touched them cause of the unnecessary calories & carbs.... a grilled cheese sandwich sounds wonderful and english muffin with peanut butter... OMG.... but the carb issue is a concern, I have really been trying to stay away from the carbs... ugh.... dont they leave you wanting more?

I think I've been okay with them - they seem to do the trick - I need a little crunch here and there texture-wise. I have a few Wheat Thins each day. I don't have bread every day - probably only 2x per week and then it's a slice of ww toast or 1/2 english muffin (ww also). I have been totally away from rice, Pasta and the like. I've had some pierogies also - just keeping the portion down. I seem to be losing okay so I'm guessing it is okay...

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
