6 days post op and still having gas pains

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone,

I am 6 days post Op tomorrow and I'm still having gas pains. I'm not in horrible pain, but it is annoying. I'm taking Gas X although I could not find the Gas X strips. Does anyone know how long this will last?

The gas for me was HORRIBLE!! The only pain I had was the gas. Nothing helped. I was miserable for about 4-5 days. Then when it finally decided to break loose, I got really bad gas and was soooo happy to fart!! TMI, I am sure, but I felt so much better after about 10 of them. Then I got the squirts and that just made me feel even better. Those lasted for about a week.

It sucks, but it is what we have to go thru. Gas X did nothing for me!! Walking didn't help, only time made it better.

Hope your's breaks loose soon!!

Kelly

I remember after I had my c-section the gas pains were excruciating. They got me up and walking pretty quickly (I imagine that is going to be the same for my sleeve, from what I've read) and farting was the best feeling ever! :)

Have you tried a heating pad? I found that the more I moved around, the better I felt. I was tempted to form into a ball because it was the most comfortable position but then the gas wasn't moving. I forced myself to stretch out more and more and things started to move. The heating pad helped me a lot when I was sitting still. I'm 3 days post-op and still farting and burping it out but once you start to get it moving, you'll feel so much better.

Hang in there!

Walking as frequently as possible really helped the gas issue. My gas only lasted for 2 days. After searching several stores, my husband finally found the Gas X strips at Walgreens Pharmacy (not sure if they have that chain in your area).

Hope this helps :)

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
