I was sleeved in London, UK on June 3rd. I was 275lbs and 6 weeks out I am now 242lbs. My BMI is now 38.11 which means I am no longer morbidly obese - just obese. Am looking forward to being classed as 'overweight'. I went back to the gym today and it felt good - just ten minutes on a treadmill and a 5% incline gave me plenty of energy. On average I'm loosing 2-4 pounds a week.

Thanks very much - the temptation to weigh myself everyday is immense. Although it means I have to look long term rather than getting disheartened over a pounds increase after about 3-4 days of losses. I'll be back on this site regularly - everyone has been so nice.

Playfair! It sounds like you are doing AWESOME!! Congratulations on moving down in weight classes...that IS a huge deal! Good luck and keep us updated!

:)

You'll get there - patience is very important and that's so easy to say but less easy to practice! Best of luck and eyes on the prize.

Brilliant. Congrats on your success...lol, I cannot wait to be obese!

Well done to you - I found the first week or two difficult but I had family around me to encourage and help.

Congratulations - sounds like you are doing great!

Hi there Coops-

it's nice to see that there are some Brits out there getting this op done. I know it has been popular in the US for a while. It also seems that the food options in the US post-op make it a bit easier than here. Where did you get done? I went to the London Independent in Stepney Green. I went private as I didn't want to play the NHS waiting game and end up with diabetes. Have you met any others in the UK who have also had the Gastric Sleeve. My consultant talked me out of the Saline ball and the said that the gastric band had a lot of complications attached.

HIya Playfair,

I was sleeved in Bridgend S. Wales... and was self pay too... I did approach my doc to go through the NHS, but apart from being morbidly obese I was perfectly fit and well! For how long that would have stayed is another matter...

There are a fair few Brits on here... Chilo, Cludgie, Yorkshire Ange, Jane are a few.... all successful.

I know two other welsh sleevers, they don't post here, but have been helpful to me via the phone and FB. I haven't told many peeps about my op, I felt that I didn't want to justify myself to anyone or be judeged... I am pleased about that decision now 'cos I have been a real slow loser and more recently come to a virtual stand still. I am just on the cusp of getting back in the saddle after a while of semi maintance. I have an appointment with my surgeon next week, so I need to ak him for some advise re getting things moving again. In saying that, I am pleased with my weight loss and hoq my quality of life has increased for the better.

This is a great site... a lot of info and support to be had here... I come on here regularly still (I am just over a year out) and it really does help when I need somewhere to vent or advise from peeps who are going through the same thing.

Stay in touch... and let me know how you get on! =]

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
