Hello Everyone!

Recommended Posts

I'm going to get the Vertical Gastric Sleeve done in Mexico. I've actually been looking into it for a long time. I started gaining weight when I became hypothyroid in 2000. I gained like 60lbs in 4 months. Then by the end of that year I was 100lbs overweight. I finally got a full removal of my thyroid in 2007 but the weight has been extremely hard to get off. I don't think my Dr has me on the proper dose of Synthroid. I finally got him to increase me to 175mcg but that's not enough because my energy levels are still super low and I'm still unable to lose weight. After the removal a few of the nodules had metastasized. My Dr told me I was so lucky (I say blessed wink.gif ) that I got it removed when I did because the cancer was on it's way out of the thyroid which would have been throat cancer blink.gif I went through a round of radiation. Then after a 2nd scan they saw more cancer so I did another round of radiation. After all was done I ended up doing 3 rounds of radiation and 1 of chemo. I am all clear now. I've had 4 clear scans. My Dr gave me the OK last year to start weight training and dieting again. Well, it's been useless. I've only been able to go down 10-15lbs in 2 years. We discussed the lap band but I don't want to have to deal with that. People I know who have it their weight takes too long to come off. I am sick and damn tired of being a fat ass! angry.gifrolleyes.gif So I am finally going to do it! No more procrastinating! I'm going to be really aggressive (as I can be) with training and cardio after the VSG so the weight will come off quick. I know a few people who were able to lose 30-60lbs in just 1 month. Currently I'm 265 and 5'8". My goal weight is 160. I hope I didn't ramble too much! laugh.gif I feel REALLY great about my decision. I have been smiling since I made it (Saturday). You have no idea how hard this has been for me and on my psyche. I used to be a bodybuilder! So I had muscles, nice toned arms, legs, and abs. I have been in a deep depression for the last 3 years. I started seeing a therapist last year which has helped me cope really well with all of it.

LaTasha,

You have really been thru the ringer but have managed to come out as a champ!:D You have faced several severe challenges and I am glad you are wise to seek a therapist. It is always best to seek help on our journey thru life when we need it. I am hypothroid and battle depression too. I have a rare liver disease that causes fatigue among other things so I understand your medical struggle even though I have not battled cancer. You are a very brave and inspirational lady. The people here on this board are simply fantastic and we will be there for you as you begin your new journey for WLS. I believe you have made the right decision. You obviously know your body well as a body builder and realized that traditional dieting will no longer work for you. Congratulations on your decision and keep us posted.

I think you are going to do a great job! You have a great attitude about getting down to buisness after you are sleeved. That will carry you all the way to your goal or maybe even beyond!

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
