NEW -- excited & impatient!!

Hello -- I've just discovered this site & am looking forward to hearing more @ your experiences!

I'm new to the whole idea of WLS, and especially VSG -- but after much research & upon the advice of my Doctor, believe whole-heartedly that this is the best option for me.

I was told 4 weeks ago that I needed total knee replacement surgery (we thought that I'd just been dealing with a knee injury that wasn't healing...!) -- and that my doctor wouldn't perform knee replacement until I'd lost a significant amount of weight. Knee doctor referred me to Dr. Ramiro "Sonny" Cavazos @ The Texas Center for Medical & Surgical Weight Loss. Had my first appointment with him + Nutritionist & Behavioral Health on 5/26/11 & am now doing 3 months of medically supervised weight loss as per my insurance company (already down 23 lbs!) & impatiently hoping to have a surgery date the end of August / beginning of September 2011.

Motivated & very excited!

Highest weight : 328 May 2011

Current weight: 303

Goal: 150-ish

Welcome! Good luck with everything! I hope that your insurance approves you, the sleeve is a life changer :)

Greetings, Epiphany!! I was scheduled to have the sleeve just about 6 weeks after my daughter did last summer because my cardiologist told me I had to lose weight because eventually I would have to get total knee replacements and no surgeon would do them at my weight.

Well, I took a terrible fall and had to have my right knee done anyway because I could barely walk. So they will do it if you are injured...hahaha :P So I recovered from that quite nicely and then had the sleeve done in April, 2011. Sleeve, then knee is probably the best, but oh well...they are both done and I am on the way to better times.

Keep us posted on your progress...Kathe
