At my PCP follow up yesterday I told him that my throat has been a bit sore the last few days.... he said that it looked normal and could have just been from the breathing tube. He took my temp and it was 99.8 so he ordered labwork to check my white blood cell count.

So this morning his nurse called to tell me that they came back a little bit high but the dr said it could be due to the sore throat. I AM WORRIED NOW .. what does this mean???

My surgeons office is not open till 9am so I am waiting to call them then..... my fever was running the same off and on in the hospital but no one seemed to think it was an issue. I am so worried that something is going on with me now :(

Not to mention.. I get this off and on pain near where the hole from the draining tube was.. its like that pain you get on your right side when you run too much ... except this is on the left side near the hole.

I hope nothing is wrong :( :(

TAMZ RELAX your body has gone through a major operation and your WBC should be elevated as you are fighting off infection inside. DEEP BREATH...you are going to have pains here and there, it will be ok. You have done the right thing by talking to your PCP and calling your surgeon. TRUST WHAT THEY TELL YOU, that is what you are paying them to do. You are going to be find and do great!!!!!!!!

I had a pain in my left side for about a week and a 1/2. It is a muscle pain. My doc thought it was a gas pain but the pain meds don't work on gas lol. They did work on that pain though. Take your meds thats what they are there for. As for the other, not everything is going to be perfect, listen to your docs. If they thought there was an issue they would tell you.

You need to relax, take a deep breath and say serenity now ;) Seriously, just concentrate on your liquids etc. You will be fine.

You had major invasive surgery. higher WBC and a little elevated temp is normal at this point. Your bodies way of fending off intruders. Yes your sore throat is probably from the tube.

Take it easy focus on sipping.

I'm sending good energy and thoughts your way, Tamz. I am sure that it is nothing to worry about. You have done totally the right thing by notifying the surgeon and PCP. Rest this burden in their capable hands and focus on getting your fluids and resting. Getting worked up will only make you feel worse.

And remind me of this when my time comes, because I am EXACTLY the same way and will make myself into a hypocrite.:)

Hi Tamz,

I had a temperature for a few days too. It went up to 100.4. I noticed that when I walked it went up a bit. I was told that because it was a big surgery, the walking increased the inflamation. It's a big stress on the body. I monitored it and took it easy and it would go down. I'm not a doctore but I was told that it becomes more serious if it starts to climb over 101 and you also start to feel really bad. I undertand your feelings because when my temperature was up I really freaked out too. But after three or four days it was just fine. Keep monitoring it and if you are overdoing it with the walking, slow it down. Good luck in your recovery!!!! I know, the first few days are rough!!!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
